Tsaghkadzor Spa Stays and Mountain Dinners
Tsaghkadzor works for a quiet couple’s weekend built around a hotel spa, a chairlift ride and a good dinner. It does not have lakeside romance, a waterpark or dedicated couples’ packages, and no sunset rides are advertised, so the plan below is simple and weather-led. Check gov.uk and travel.state.gov for current Armenia advice before you go.
Spa stays
Hotel spas are the heart of a romantic stay. Booking-site listings show these options in town:
- Tsaghkadzor Marriott, on the northern edge of town, opened in 2012 according to Lonely Planet and listed with an indoor pool, spa and tennis
- Golden Palace Hotel Resort and Spa, Tandzaghbyur Street 34/1, listed with a spa and sauna
- Grace Kecharis SPA Hotel, Orbeli Brothers Street 20, listed with a spa
Rooms, treatments and opening times change, so check each hotel’s current page before you book. Compare dates and room types on Booking.com .
A chairlift ride in clear weather
The Tsaghkadzor Ropeway climbs to 2,819 m on a chain of five open chairlifts, and the ride takes about 32 minutes. On a clear day the views reach Lake Sevan and Mount Ararat. The lifts run from 10:00 to 17:30, so the last ride is an afternoon one rather than a sunset one, and a single ride is 3,000 AMD on the operator’s winter price list at ropeway.am . The lifts can stop in high wind or storms. Dress for much colder air than in town.
Dinner
These restaurants are listed in town, though no prices are verified:
- Yasaman, Orbeli Brothers Street 8
- Karas, also listed at Orbeli Brothers Street 8
- Pur, Orbeli Brothers Street 18
- Craftsmen’s Tsaghkadzor Restaurant House, which a local guide describes with a fireplace and a summer terrace, open year-round
- The Brasserie at the Marriott
Orbeli Brothers Street is the main dining strip, so it is easy to walk between them. Book ahead on winter weekends.
An evening walk in town
In winter, daylight is short, so take a snow walk early in the afternoon. Tsaghkunyats Street runs through the town centre and has the bronze statue of the clown Leonid Yengibarov, a good photo stop. The city park on the hill near Kecharis has paths and cafes, and in summer it hosts the zipline and trampolines.
Planning tips
- Winter roads can be poor from November to February, and the FCDO advises avoiding night driving outside towns.
- The Orbeli Brothers House-Museum, open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00, makes an easy indoor hour for two.
- A taxi from Yerevan is reported at about 8,000 to 10,000 AMD in an app such as GG or Yandex Go.
