Day Trips from Suva to Pacific Harbour
Pacific Harbour as the Hub
Pacific Harbour is about 45 to 60 minutes west of Suva on the Queens Road, with Navua town on the way. It is the base for Beqa Lagoon, the Navua River and the Upper Navua Gorge, so most day trips from Suva head this way. Leave early so the day does not feel rushed. Prices are in Fijian dollars (FJ$).
Navua River and the Magic Waterfall
Of the full-day options, this is the simplest to arrange from Pacific Harbour. Discover Fiji Tours meets guests at Naitata Road in Navua, and its Jewel of Fiji trip takes about 45 minutes by longboat up the river. A swim at the falls of about 30 minutes, a bamboo raft ride, a village visit and a lovo lunch follow. Operators generally collect from hotels. Call +679 905 0902 for the current price and days.
Beqa Lagoon Shark Dive
The boat leaves from Beqa Adventure Divers’ base at Fairway Place in Pacific Harbour. It is a day trip for certified divers only, FJ$500 for two tanks on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings. With the FJ$25 reserve levy and FJ$20 fuel surcharge, plan on about FJ$545 before gear. Check the operator’s requirements first. Fiji’s only recompression chamber is at Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva and is not always working, so carry diving and evacuation insurance.
Upper Navua Gorge Rafting
This is a long day, roughly 06:45 to 18:00, with Rivers Fiji. The Class II to III trip costs about FJ$440 to 460 with lunch, and return transport from Suva adds about FJ$50. It suits ages from about 8. Check river levels after heavy rain.
Colo-i-Suva in Half a Day
Colo-i-Suva Forest Park is about 20 minutes from central Suva and works as a morning or afternoon outing. Overseas adults pay about FJ$5 and children about FJ$1, and the pools are fed by Waisila Creek. Go in daylight, not alone, keep to the main paths and do not resist a robbery. The park closed after heavy rain in May 2026, so check that it is open before you set out.
Beqa Island
Beqa Island has no roads or cars, and boats run to it from Pacific Harbour. Arrange a visit through a resort such as Beqa Lagoon Resort or through an operator, and confirm access and boat times with them first. Firewalking is a ceremony of the Sawau tribe of Beqa, and visits to villages depend on arrangements.
Levuka
Levuka on Ovalau is in the Eastern Division and was Fiji’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, inscribed in 2013. It is not a Suva day trip: the bus and ferry route takes about 4 to 4.5 hours each way, so treat it as a separate overnight destination.
Getting Around
Nausori Airport is roughly 19 to 23 km from central Suva, about 30 to 60 minutes by taxi depending on traffic. Check Fiji Airways for flights from Nadi. Heavy rain can close roads, and Suva sits on the wet windward side.
