Navua River and Gorge Tours Near Suva
Tours Based Around Pacific Harbour and Navua
Most organised tours in Central Division start in Pacific Harbour or Navua, about 45 to 60 minutes west of Suva along the Queens Road. Operators generally collect from hotels, and prices are in Fijian dollars (FJ$). A 5 percent Tourism Services Tax may be added to larger operators’ prices from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027.
Navua River and the Magic Waterfall
Discover Fiji Tours is based in Navua and lists the Jewel of Fiji, a Fijian village tour, river canoeing, the Magic Waterfall and bamboo rafting. The Jewel of Fiji day meets at Naitata Road in Navua and takes about 45 minutes upriver by longboat. You then swim at the falls for about 30 minutes, ride a bamboo raft, visit a village and finish with a lovo lunch, a meal cooked in an earth oven. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Ask the operator for the current price, days and child fare; the office number is +679 905 0902. Resellers sometimes quote in AUD or USD, so check which currency you are looking at.
Village Visits and Sevusevu
Cover your shoulders and knees, take off hats and sunglasses, and never touch anyone’s head. When you are handed the bilo, the kava cup, clap once and say “bula”. A sevusevu is a gift of kava root presented to the village chief, and tour guides normally handle it. Kava can be a risk to the liver, as UK travel advice points out.
Upper Navua Gorge With Rivers Fiji
This is a full-day Class II to III raft trip, about FJ$440 to 460 with lunch, from the company’s Pacific Harbour office. The gorge walls rise over 40 m and the conservation area is Fiji’s first Ramsar wetland. The day runs roughly 06:45 to 18:00 and suits ages from about 8. Check river levels after heavy rain.
Damodar Arts Village Show and Island Tour
Damodar Arts Village on Hibiscus Drive in Pacific Harbour reopened in October 2025. Its show combines meke, Beqa firewalking, a kava ceremony and a recreated island village, and its Island Tour is a heritage walk. Contact the village on +679 229 9049 for days, times and ticket prices. Firewalking is a ceremony of the Sawau tribe of Beqa, so watch it respectfully.
Beqa Lagoon Snorkelling
Beqa Adventure Divers lists snorkelling at FJ$100 for people who do not dive. Confirm the departure with the operator. The shark dive is a separate scuba product for certified divers only, so snorkellers should not expect to see the feeding.
TerraTrek 4WD Buggies
TerraTrek Fiji at 763 Nokonoko Circle in Pacific Harbour runs self-drive 4WD buggy tours in the hills behind the town, about 4 to 5 hours with a picnic lunch. Drivers need a licence and must be at least 17, so this is not a tour for young children.
Namosi Highlands
Namosi Eco Retreat sits at Navunikabi Village on the Luva River, about 2 hours by road from Suva. The village runs it, with walks and horse riding on offer. Contact the retreat directly to arrange a visit.
