Two to Three Days Around Polis
Polis does not need long, and two to three days cover the town, the harbour and the nearest stretch of the Akamas coast. Polis Chrysochous is in the north-west of the Republic of Cyprus, about 35 km from Paphos. The currency is the euro and traffic drives on the left. Paphos airport is the nearest airport.
Day 1: Polis and Latchi
Start with the Local Archaeological Museum of Marion-Arsinoe at Leoforos Makariou III 26. It is free, open 08:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday and 09:00 to 15:00 on Saturday, and closed on Sunday and public holidays. Spend the afternoon on Polis Municipal Beach, which has deep golden sand and a 2026 Blue Flag. In the evening drive the short way west to Latchi harbour, a working fishing harbour with fish tavernas and the boat-trip kiosks.
Day 2: Blue Lagoon and the Baths of Aphrodite
Take a morning Blue Lagoon cruise from Latchi. A basic cruise lasts about 2.5 to 3 hours with a swim stop from the anchored boat, and booking sites show it at roughly 25 to 30 US dollars per adult. Afterwards visit the Baths of Aphrodite, about 11 km west of Polis. Entry is free, and the pool is for looking at, not swimming. If you have the energy, the 7.5 km Aphrodite Nature Trail takes 3 to 4 hours, so start it early, carry water and avoid the midday heat.
Day 3: Pomos or Paphos
Choose one of two directions. A drive along the coast to Pomos, roughly 20 to 25 km from Polis, takes in the village, its small fishing harbour and the Dragon Cave, reached by boat or by steps from a small car park. Or go south to Paphos, about 35 km away, for Kato Paphos and the Tombs of the Kings. Bus 645 runs between Paphos Karavella and Polis in about an hour, roughly hourly, for about EUR 2.
Troodos is a separate trip inland and does not fit comfortably into a short Polis stay.
Where to stay
Anassa, run by Thanos Hotels, is a 166-room resort of rooms, suites and residences at Asprokremmos beach near Neo Chorio, about 8 km west of Polis. It finished a EUR 10 million refurbishment in 2026. For a cheaper base, browse the listings in Polis and Latchi.
Getting around
Without a car you can use bus 645 to Paphos and route 622 from Polis through Prodromi and Latchi to the Baths of Aphrodite. For current times, see pafosbuses.com or call +357 8000 5588. Do not take a normal rental car on the unpaved Akamas track beyond the Baths, because most rental contracts exclude it.
