Guided Visits in Pomoravlje District
Several attractions in Pomoravlje District are visited with a guide, either because entry requires one or because the site is easier to follow with commentary. This page covers what each visit involves, what it costs and how the tour operators package them. Costs are in Serbian dinars (RSD).
Resava Cave guided tours
Every visit to Resava Cave is a guided group tour, and the guide leads the whole route. Tours start at 08:30 and then every 45 minutes, with the last tour at 15:30. Adults pay 700 RSD, students and pupils 650 RSD and children under 7 pay 50 RSD. The cave was discovered in 1962 and opened to visitors on 22 April 1972, and it was first known as Divljakovac cave.
The tour covers about 800 m of the roughly 4.5 km system. Expect cold air, damp steps and a request not to touch the formations, leave the path, use flash or smoke. Bring a jacket. Details are on the operator page .
Natural History Centre of Serbia
The centre in Svilajnac sells a guide service at 2,000 RSD according to its price list, in addition to the entry ticket. Entry is 850 RSD for adults, 550 RSD for children aged 3 to 12 and 600 RSD for pensioners and students. Under-3s are free. The centre has a dino park with life-size dinosaur replicas. Check the ticket page for current prices, and arrive at least an hour before closing because last entry is 60 minutes ahead of it.
Manasija and Ravanica
Both are working monasteries rather than museums, so keep the visit quiet. Manasija is 2 km northwest of Despotovac and Ravanica is in the village of Senje, in Ćuprija municipality. Dress modestly with shoulders and knees covered and ask before taking photographs inside a church. Rampart restoration at Manasija is due to finish by 2027, so some sections may be closed off.
Senjski Rudnik mining museum
The Senjski Rudnik museum in Senje opened on 1 May 1982. The complex includes Aleksandar’s adit, an administrative building, workshops and a steam engine from 1874. It is a good pairing with Ravanica because both are in Senje. Check opening times before you go.
Day tours from Belgrade
Tour operators sell day trips from Belgrade that combine Manasija, Resava Cave and the Veliki Buk waterfall at Lisine. These are long days, since the cave alone is 152 km from the capital. A self-drive version works well if you prefer your own pace, and the cave tour times above still apply. Confirm the cave road is open on the day, because military exercises have closed it.
