Most people who fly into Antalya airport head straight for a resort strip in Lara or Belek and never leave the property. That is the wrong plan. Antalya’s real value on a first trip is as a base: Perge, Aspendos, Side and Termessos all sit within about an hour’s drive, Olympos and the Chimaera flames add a second afternoon, and Pamukkale or Kas turn into worthwhile overnights if the schedule allows.

Antalya’s old town is worth two unhurried days on its own. But two attractions every old blog post still recommends, the Tunektepe cable car and the Antalya Museum, are both closed right now, one since a fatal accident in 2024 and one for a full building demolition through 2026. Plan around them, not toward them. Spend the time instead on Kaleici’s walls, one real beach (Konyaalti over Lara unless a resort stay is the actual point), and the Duden waterfalls, which are two separate sites people keep conflating into one.
