Paphos District Itineraries for 3 to 5 Days
This plan runs from the harbour at Kato Paphos out to Peyia, up to Latchi and into the hills, so you never double back across the island. It assumes a hire car, which in Cyprus drives on the left. All prices are 2026 figures in euros, and hours can change, so check the Department of Antiquities before you go.
Day 1: Kato Paphos and Ktima
Start at the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park (EUR 4.50) for the Roman mosaic floors, the Odeon and the Saranta Kolones ruins. Winter hours are 08:30 to 17:00 from 16 September to 15 April, and summer hours run to 19:30. Walk the harbour to Paphos Castle (EUR 2.50) and look at St Paul’s Pillar at Panagia Chrysopolitissa, which is free. Eat fish at a harbour taverna. In the evening, drive up to Ktima, the old upper town, for dinner near Ibrahim’s Khan.
The Tombs of the Kings is a separate site about 2 km north of the park with an additional EUR 2.50 ticket. Add it if you have spare time on day 1.
Day 2: Peyia, Coral Bay and Latchi
Drive north-west to the Peyia sea caves and look at the Edro III wreck from the shore. Then spend the late morning at Coral Bay. Drive on to Latchi harbour, about 40 km north of Paphos, for a Blue Lagoon cruise of roughly 2.5 to 3 hours, with fares from about EUR 20. Finish with fish at the harbour. Do not drive the unpaved Akamas track in a rental car, because standard insurance excludes it.
Day 3: Tala, the hills and Kouklia
Visit Agios Neophytos at Tala, 10 km north of Paphos, where the Enkleistra and museum share a EUR 2 ticket. In the hills, Vasilikon Winery at Kathikas is one stop for tasting the local Xynisteri and Maratheftiko grapes, and you should ring ahead for opening hours. Drive south-east in the afternoon to Palaepaphos at Kouklia (EUR 4.50, museum included) and end the day at the Petra tou Romiou viewpoint at sunset. Swimming there is not advised.
Days 4 and 5: optional extensions
On day 4, drive about 55 km into Paphos Forest. Stavros tis Psokas Forest Station keeps a Cyprus mouflon enclosure, and Cedar Valley lies beyond it. Return by the Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery. Allow 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 30 each way on the mountain road.
On day 5, Kourion is about 55 km east in Limassol District. It has a clifftop theatre and mosaics, and Kolossi Castle and the Limassol old port are close by. Neither belongs to Paphos District, but they fit one long day.
Passes and costs
Department of Antiquities cards cost EUR 8.50 for 1 day, EUR 17 for 3 days and EUR 25 for 7 days. Compare them with single tickets before buying. Sites close on 25 December, 1 January and Orthodox Easter Sunday.
Practical points
Do not plan Avakas Gorge: its nature trail is closed to visitors. Lara beach is closed at night in the nesting season, and nests and eggs must never be touched. On the road, Route 612 links the airport with Kato Paphos if you arrive without a car.
