Romantic Niagara Falls for Couples
Niagara Falls has long been a honeymoon destination, and the best of it comes after dark. Every night the falls are lit in changing colours, and the high-rise restaurants and hotels of the Canadian Fallsview district look straight at them. For quieter evenings, the historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake sits 20 km north. Prices below are Canadian dollars unless marked.
Dinner with a view of the falls
- Prime Steakhouse has floor-to-ceiling windows over the illuminated falls and serves dry-aged steaks, Ontario lamb and a VQA wine list. Mains run about $50 to $90 CAD. Ask for a window table three to four weeks ahead.
- Watermark Fallsview Restaurant is on the 33rd floor of the Hilton Fallsview at 6361 Fallsview Boulevard, with 30 foot glass walls and modern Canadian cooking. In the summer fireworks season, book a table between 20:00 and 21:30 to see the 10:00 pm display.
- Table Rock House Restaurant sits at Table Rock Centre, as close to the brink of Horseshoe Falls as a restaurant can be. It cooks with Ontario ingredients, with mains about $40 to $75 CAD.
A slower evening in Niagara-on-the-Lake
Clifton Hill is loud and carnival-like, so many couples spend an afternoon or a night in Niagara-on-the-Lake instead.
- Stay at a heritage inn such as the Prince of Wales Hotel, known for its afternoon tea, or at 124 on Queen Hotel and Spa.
- Take a private horse-drawn carriage ride through the old town with Sentineal Carriages, about $120 to $160 CAD for 30 minutes.
- Book a seated icewine and chocolate pairing at Inniskillin or Peller Estates.
Spa time
Christienne Fallsview Spa is inside the Sheraton Fallsview at 5875 Falls Avenue. Its rooms and hydrotherapy tubs overlook the falls, and couples packages run from about $350 to $650 CAD. The Spa at 124 on Queen in Niagara-on-the-Lake has a hydrotherapy circuit with sensory showers, a eucalyptus steam room and a snow room.
Views from above and from the water
- Niagara Helicopters offers a 12 minute flight for two over the falls and gorge, about $370 CAD for a couple.
- Maid of the Mist sails from the US side at Prospect Point between April 24 and November 8 in 2026. Adults pay $30.25 USD.
- Terrapin Point on Goat Island is the best free sunset spot on the US side.
- Rainbow Bridge gives a walk with both falls in a single view. Take your passports.
Tips
- Fireworks run nightly at 10:00 pm in the summer season (May 15 to October 12 in 2026). The Winter Festival of Lights starts in mid November.
- Reserve falls view tables and spa slots ahead, since the popular windows go first.
- Wrap up warmly for winter evenings, because ice can cover the walkways near the falls.
