Day Trips Around Paphos District
Most good day trips from Paphos stay inside the district, and the longer ones into Limassol District are labelled below. Distances are by road from Paphos town. Prices are 2026 figures in euros, and winter hours apply from 16 September to 15 April.
Half-day trips inside the district
Coral Bay and Peyia, 12 to 15 km north-west, about 20 minutes by car. Route 615 runs from Kato Paphos to Coral Bay. The beach is a sheltered horseshoe, and Maa-Palaeokastro is on the rocky headland beside it. Near Peyia you can see the Edro III cargo ship, grounded since late 2011, from the shore. Do not climb on it or swim out to it. Cliff jumping at the sea caves is dangerous.
Kouklia and Petra tou Romiou, 14 to 25 km south-east, about 20 to 25 minutes by car. Palaepaphos costs EUR 4.50 and the ticket includes the local museum. Aphrodite’s Rock lies on the south-east coast between Kouklia and the Limassol border, nowhere near the Akamas. It is a viewpoint for the legend and for photographs. Swimming is not advised: drownings have been reported and no lifeguard service should be assumed.
Tala and Agios Neophytos, 10 km north, about 15 minutes by car. The hermitage cut into the rock (the Enkleistra) and its museum share a EUR 2 ticket. Hours are 09:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 18:00 from April to October, and 09:00 to 16:00 from November to March. It closes on 25 December, 1 January, Green Monday, Easter Sunday and 15 August.
Geroskipou, 4 km east, about 10 minutes. Agia Paraskevi church is five-domed, with free entry, and modest dress is expected. The town makes Loukoumi Geroskipou, a Turkish delight with EU protected status.
Full-day trips inside the district
Polis, Latchi and the Blue Lagoon, 40 to 45 km north, about 45 minutes by car. Combine the Latchi harbour with a Blue Lagoon cruise of roughly 2.5 to 3 hours, from about EUR 20 for adults. Baths of Aphrodite is the start of the nature trails on the Akamas.
Vouni Panayia and Chrysorrogiatissa, about 35 km north-east. Visit the vineyards at Pano Panayia, then the Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery, which has free entry.
Paphos Forest and Cedar Valley, about 55 km north-east, 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 30 by mountain road. Stavros tis Psokas Forest Station keeps a Cyprus mouflon enclosure, and Cedar Valley is nearby.
Day trips out of Paphos District
Kourion, Kolossi Castle, Omodos, Platres and the Millomeris falls are all in Limassol District. Kourion is about 55 km east. Kykkos Monastery is in Nicosia District. Ayia Napa, Protaras and Nicosia are too far for a day trip.
North Cyprus is not an easy Paphos day trip. No crossing point lies inside Paphos District, and the usual crossings, Ledra Street and Agios Dometios in Nicosia, are about 1 hour 45 minutes away. Rental firms say their insurance does not cover the north, and many contracts forbid driving there. Check your contract and carry your passport.
