Latchi Sightseeing: Harbour, Baths, Museum
Sightseeing around Latchi is compact. The harbour is in the village, the Baths of Aphrodite are a short drive west, the Blue Lagoon is best seen from a boat, and Polis is 4 km east for a museum and a town square.
The harbour and marina
Latchi grew as a carob export port, and the old stone warehouses along the quay have been converted into restaurants. Working fishing boats lie beside yachts and tour boats. Everything in the village is walkable. In the evening the quay is the place to be, and Porto Latchi, Faros, Psaropoulos, Restomare and Yiangos and Peter are the harbour restaurants guides list.
Baths of Aphrodite
A grotto pool and botanical garden stand a short drive west of the harbour, at the start of the Aphrodite and Adonis trails. Entry is free, and visitors are asked not to swim or wade in the pool. Bus 622 stops here, running from Polis bus station through Prodromi and Latchi. The road is paved up to this point, and the tarmac ends near the Baths.
The Akamas coast from the sea
Fontana Amorosa and the Blue Lagoon are the coastal sights, and the easy way to see them is a cruise. The sea trip takes 30 to 45 minutes each way, and a full shared cruise lasts 2.5 to 3 hours with a swim stop. The track from the Baths of Aphrodite to Fontana Amorosa and the Blue Lagoon is rough with exposed drops, and on foot it is about 6 km each way from the Baths car park, 1.5 to 2 hours each way. The area sits within the Natura 2000 network, so keep anchors off seagrass and do not feed or chase wildlife.
Marion-Arsinoe Archaeological Museum
The museum is on Leoforos Makariou III 26 in Polis. It opens Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 and Saturday from 09:00 to 15:00, and is closed on Sunday and public holidays. Admission is free, according to VisitCyprus.
Polis Chrysochous
Polis has a town square with cafes, shops and the bus station, and Polis Municipal Beach, a Blue Flag beach in 2026, lies a few minutes away.
Smigies and the forest
The Smigies picnic site in the Akamas Forest is about 2.5 km from Neo Chorio and is the start of two circular trails. The short one is 2.5 km (about 1 hour) and the long one is 6 km (about 2 hours).
Not on this coast
Avakas Gorge is closed to visitors, and it lies on the Pegeia and Kathikas side rather than near Latchi. Coral Bay is about 30 to 35 km south, and Cape Greco is at the far end of the island, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours each way. Lara Bay is a protected turtle beach reached by a rough track, usually from Pegeia, with strict rules from early June to late September.
See Latchi sightseeing tours for bookable options, the Latchi Wikipedia entry for background, and the VisitCyprus Smigies page for the forest trails.
