Guided Tours Around Victoria Falls Town
Guided experiences around Victoria Falls Town range from a quiet night walk beside the falls to a game drive upriver. This page covers the tours that give context or a view you cannot get alone. Prices change, so confirm them with the operator.
Lunar rainbow nights
For three nights each month, the night of the full moon plus the night before and after, ZimParks opens Victoria Falls National Park after dark. In clear skies, moonlight passing through the spray forms a pale rainbow across the gorge. Entry for international visitors is about US$116 per person. A tripod helps, as photos need an exposure of roughly 5 to 15 seconds. Wear waterproofs, because the paths are wet and the spray soaks you. Check the moon calendar and the park’s current arrangements at ZimParks .
Bridge catwalk tour
Shearwater offers a guided walk on the catwalk under the deck of the Victoria Falls Bridge. Guests wear a harness clipped to a safety cable, and the guide explains how the bridge was built. It opened in 1905 and stands 111 m above the river. This tour is a good fit for anyone who wants the history of the structure without jumping from it.
Boma dinner and drum show
The Boma is the dinner and drumming evening at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. Dinner is served in the evening only, about 19:00 to 22:00, and booking is essential in the high season. The menu includes game meats and traditional dishes such as sadza, and guests are given drums to play along with the performers. Prices seen range from about US$40 to US$120, depending on whether transfers and drinks are bundled. Book through Victoria Falls Safari Lodge .
Game drives in Zambezi National Park
Zambezi National Park lies upriver from town and covers about 560 square km. Open vehicle drives run in the morning and late afternoon. Animals seen include elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, lion, leopard, hyena and sable antelope. Daily entry is US$17 for international visitors. The rainforest at the falls has no game drives, so the park is the place for wildlife on this side of the river.
Tips for choosing a tour
- Ask what is included. Park levies, river fees and transfers are often listed separately.
- Pick wild game drives for wildlife. Elephant rides and lion walks are not offered by responsible operators. Wild Horizons runs a non-riding Elephant Encounter at its sanctuary, with a ZimParks levy of US$24.
- Do not walk to or from evening tours. Elephants, buffalo and hippos graze in streets and hotel grounds after dark, so ask the operator for a transfer or call a taxi.
- Tours that cross the bridge into Zambia need a passport and valid Zambian entry, either a single-entry visa or a KAZA UniVisa, depending on nationality.
