Perth 7 Day Itinerary (No Tourist Traps)
Seven days is our 6-day plan plus a genuine rest day before you fly home, not a seventh day of sightseeing at full intensity. A full week in the city alone is a lot; if the extra days are really for Rottnest Island, Fremantle, or the Pinnacles, our Perth Australia itinerary is built for exactly that trip.
Book these before you go:
- Your CBD or Northbridge hotel : rates climb fast around Fringe World in January and February
- An Optus Stadium tour : HALO and VERTIGO slots sell out on weekends
- A Swan River cruise : the standard Transperth ferry is cheaper if you just want the crossing
| Day | Focus |
|---|---|
| 1 | Kings Park, Elizabeth Quay, free CAT loop, Northbridge dinner |
| 2 | WA Museum, Perth Cultural Centre, Cottesloe Beach |
| 3 | Swan River foreshore, South Perth ferry, Optus Stadium, Northbridge nightlife |
| 4 | Subiaco, Leederville, and Mount Lawley inner suburbs |
| 5 | Scarborough Beach, Kings Park treetop walk and Botanic Garden |
| 6 | Perth Zoo or a Swan River cycling loop, revisit a favorite meal |
| 7 | Rest day, CBD mall shopping, departure |
Day 1: Kings Park, Elizabeth Quay, and getting your bearings
Airport Line train to the CBD on the flat Go Anywhere Fare , Elizabeth Quay and the free CAT loop for orientation, Kings Park in the afternoon, dinner in Northbridge.
Day 2: The WA Museum, the Cultural Centre, and Cottesloe Beach
WA Museum Boola Bardip (A$15 adult, its free-entry promotion ended in March 2025), the Perth Cultural Centre’s galleries, Cottesloe Beach over the livelier Scarborough for a first visit.
Day 3: The river, the stadium, and Northbridge after dark
Swan River foreshore, the ferry to South Perth, Optus Stadium (HALO from A$85, VERTIGO from A$92), Northbridge’s small-bar scene at night.
Day 4: Subiaco, Leederville, and Mount Lawley
A slower day across the inner suburbs: Subiaco by Kings Park, Leederville’s cafe strip by Lake Monger, Mount Lawley’s Beaufort Street, by bus rather than car.
Day 5: Scarborough Beach and Kings Park’s other half
Scarborough for surf and kitesurfing, then back to Kings Park for the Lotterywest Federation Walkway and the Botanic Garden’s native species, best during the September-November wildflower season.
Day 6: Perth Zoo, the river loop, or both
Perth Zoo by the Elizabeth Quay-South Perth ferry, skippable if Rottnest Island’s quokkas are already elsewhere on your trip, or a full Swan River cycling loop instead. Either way, revisit whichever meal or neighborhood was the week’s best.
Is a week in Perth city alone too long? For most visitors, seven straight days without a day trip out is genuinely more city than most people need, which is exactly why this version keeps a full rest day rather than inventing a seventh sightseeing stop. If a week feels like too much city, that’s a signal to trade a day for Rottnest or Fremantle via our Perth Australia itinerary, not a flaw in the destination.
Day 7: Rest, CBD shopping, and departure
Keep this day deliberately light. Shop the Hay Street and Murray Street malls in the CBD, take one more lap of Elizabeth Quay, and revisit Kings Park one last time if the weather’s good, it’s free and costs nothing to swing by on the way to nowhere in particular.
Build in real buffer time for the Airport Line back to Perth Airport; note the airport has two separate terminal precincts, T1/T2 and T3/T4, linked by a free shuttle, so confirm which one your flight actually departs from.
Do you need to rebook accommodation partway through a week? Not necessarily. One CBD or Northbridge base covers this entire itinerary, since every day here returns to the same footprint; only split your stay if you specifically want to try both neighborhoods rather than out of necessity.
Before you go
Don’t schedule anything firm for the morning of day seven; a genuinely open final morning is what makes a full week in one city feel like a trip rather than a marathon. Keep your sunscreen routine going right through the last day, Perth’s UV doesn’t ease off just because you’re leaving.
