Planning Two to Three Days in Lindos
Lindos does not have organised multi-day tours of its own. It is a small village of lanes beneath an acropolis, and the sensible way to spend more than a day here is to base yourself in or near the village and fit together the sights, the sea and a trip or two along the coast. The plan below works for two to three nights, with a fourth day for Rhodes Town if you have it. Costs are in euros.
Where to stay
Lindos is car-free inside the lanes, so most visitors choose a room in the village or nearby and walk. Drivers park at the edge of the village, in the Krana area, and a shuttle runs between the car parks and the village. Bags have to be carried up cobbled, stepped lanes, so pack light. Many restaurants and small museums close in winter, which makes summer and the shoulder months the practical time for a longer stay. You can compare rooms with Lindos accommodation search .
Day one: the Acropolis and the village
Start early at the Acropolis, before the heat. Entry is about €20 full price and about €10 reduced, with timed slots, and the hours change by month, so check hhticket.gr . The climb is on foot from the village square, a few hundred steps up polished stone, and the top has almost no shade. In the afternoon, visit the Panagia church and its bell tower, then walk the lanes with their pebble-mosaic courtyards. Dinner at Mavrikos, family-run since 1933, is best booked ahead in high season.
Day two: the sea
Spend a day on the water. Options include a six-hour sailing trip with four swim stops from St Paul’s Bay (about €70 through resellers), the Melani glass-bottom boat, or the Trekking Hellas full-day sea kayak tour from Vlycha Beach, from about €140, which runs on Sundays from April to October. See the kayak tour page . If you would rather stay ashore, swim at Lindos Main Beach or at St Paul’s Bay, where water shoes help on the rocky entry.
Day three: south by car
A drive south along the coast takes in Gennadi and Lachania and ends at Prasonisi, the windsurfing and kitesurfing tip of the island. Allow over an hour each way from Lindos, and check wind and sandbar conditions before you go. A car is the practical way to do it.
Optional extra day: Rhodes Town
Take the KTEL bus for €5.50 one way, about 1 to 1 hour 45 minutes each way, and spend a day in the Old Town and the Palace of the Grand Master. Kallithea Springs, a restored Art Deco bathhouse by the sea with adult entry of about €5, can be added if you start early. Symi day trips also leave from Rhodes Town, not Lindos. Check ktelrodou.gr for bus times, because buses fill in July and August.
Heat and fire
July and August regularly pass 35 C. Wildfire risk is high from April to October, and the UK government travel advice says to follow local guidance and the 112 alerts.
