Wieliczka Salt Mine Tours and Routes
Wieliczka’s guided attractions come down to a short list: two routes through the salt mine, a family tour for children, and a walk-round brine tower above ground. Each runs on its own rules for group size, language and minimum age, so this page sets them side by side to help you choose before you buy.

Tourist Route tours
Guided departures run through the day, usually between about 08:00 and 18:00 depending on the date. Guides are certified by the mine, and the price includes the underground exhibition of the Kraków Saltworks Museum. Expect about 800 steps in total, with the long wooden staircase of roughly 380 steps coming right at the start. A lift takes everyone back up.
If you want a tour in German, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish or Ukrainian, buy the ticket online ahead of time. Polish and English tours do not require a reservation, but tickets are tied to time slots and can sell out in peak season.
Miners’ Route tours
On this route visitors act as novice miners under a foreman, take part in simple tasks such as measuring methane with a detector, and learn to read mining maps. After a short safety briefing each person receives a lamp, a helmet and a carbon-monoxide absorber. Wear closed shoes that cover the whole foot, as textile shoes are not recommended. Be at the Regis Shaft 15 minutes before departure, because late arrivals cannot join and are not refunded. Online booking is advised, and the box office sells tickets only when slots remain.
Family tour for children
Śladami Legend (Following the Legends) is an official tour for families with children aged 5 to 12. It includes a meeting with the Skarbnik, the legendary spirit of the mine, and starts from about 105 PLN per person. Tickets are sold online, so check the schedule on the ticket site before planning around it.
Graduation Tower
The brine Graduation Tower in St Kinga Park is a walk-round attraction rather than a guided session. Entry is 10 PLN, it opens from spring to autumn, and the suggested stay is about 30 minutes. If you have health concerns, the official site advises consulting a doctor first.
Prices and booking
Adult tickets start from about 119 PLN, reduced tickets are about 93 PLN, and family tickets start from about 294 PLN. Prices change with language, season and ticket type, so check the current price list and book through bilety.kopalnia.pl , the mine’s own ticket site. Details for the Miners’ Route are on the official Miners’ Route page .
