Manaus Attractions with a Guide
Guided visits and attractions in Manaus
Four attractions in and around Manaus are set up for visitors with a guide or a fixed route: the opera house, a replica rubber plantation, the MUSA forest museum and the riverfront market. Here is how each one works and what to check before you go.
Teatro Amazonas guided visit
The theatre on Praça São Sebastião can only be seen on a guided visit, which one travel site puts at about 40 minutes. A full ticket costs R$20 and half price is R$10. Entry is free for Amazonas residents carrying photo ID, for children up to 10 and for people with disabilities. Visiting days are Tuesday to Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00 and Sunday and holidays from 09:00 to 13:00. Monday opening has varied between sources, so confirm on the day. The building opened on 31 December 1896 and joined the UNESCO World Heritage List on 27 July 2026 under the name Amazonia Theaters. Because it is still a performance venue, a rehearsal or show can change what you see. Read the latest visiting notes on Portal Amazônia .
Museu do Seringal Vila Paraíso
This museum is a replica rubber plantation. It was built as the set for the film A Selva and later became a state museum. Entry is free, and the visit includes demonstrations of rubber tapping. You reach it by boat from Marina do Davi in Ponta Negra. The cooperative boat costs R$21 each way, so R$42 return. One guide says the crossing runs only at weekends and on holidays, so ask at the marina before you set out. The museum opens Monday to Saturday 09:00 to 15:00, closed Wednesdays, and Sunday 09:00 to 13:00. Plan on half a day with the crossing. See Portal Amazônia .
MUSA guided trail and tower
The Museu da Amazônia sits at Avenida Margarita 6305, within the Adolpho Ducke Forest Reserve in the east of the city. A guided walk on the forest trail can be combined with the tower, which rises about 42 m. Opening hours are daily 08:30 to 17:00 except Wednesdays, and the last entry is around 16:00. Ticket prices are on the museum website, and residents get a discount. Bookings go through WhatsApp at (92) 99280-9059 or by email to agendamento@museudaamazonia.org.br . Wear closed shoes and insect repellent. The museum’s own site is museudaamazonia.org.br .
Mercado Adolpho Lisboa and the Porto Flutuante
The market hall by the river opened in 1883 and is made from iron produced in Europe. It is said to be modelled on Les Halles in Paris. After seven years of restoration it reopened in October 2013. Entry is free. A guide gives the hours as Monday to Saturday 06:00 to 18:00 and Sunday and holidays 06:00 to 12:00. Stalls sell fish, fruit, crafts and herbs. The Porto Flutuante, the floating port, is next door and is a separate place, so you can pair the two on one walk.
