Málaga Attraction Tours and Guided Visits
Málaga Attraction Tours and Guided Visits
Several of the best-known sights around Málaga can be seen with a guide, either on an official visit sold by the site itself or on a package from a private operator. This page sets out what each option involves so you can choose one and book it early.
Cathedral and rooftops
The cathedral on Calle Molina Lario 9, nicknamed La Manquita (“the one-armed lady”) because only its 84 m north tower was finished, sells an official guided visit for EUR 15. General entry with an audio guide is EUR 10. The story that the money for the second tower went to the American War of Independence is local lore that parish records do not back up.
The rooftop climb (Cubiertas) is guided only. It involves a narrow spiral staircase of about 200 steps, backpacks are not allowed, and the visit is suspended in bad weather. The cathedral does not publish a rooftop price or schedule in its tariff pages, so book through the cathedral’s tariff and hours page .
Caminito del Rey guided visit
The official guided visit costs EUR 18, takes groups of up to 30 people in Spanish and English, and lasts about four hours. The standard ticket is EUR 10. The walk runs one way from the north access to El Chorro, children under 8 cannot enter, a helmet is supplied and mandatory, and children over 8 need original ID. Tickets are released in tranches and sell fast, so book online through the Caminito del Rey site .
Alhambra day tours
Granada is about 90 minutes to 2 hours from Málaga by coach or train, and several operators bundle transport with the ticket. The Alhambra’s own day ticket is about EUR 22 online and includes a fixed half-hour slot for the Nasrid Palaces, which can be refused if you arrive late. The Patronato also sells an official guided tour, priced at about EUR 40 on third-party tables. Check any package for the Palaces slot time before paying, and see the Alhambra opening hours and prices .
Bay cruises
Catamaran and bay cruises leave from Muelle Uno. Mundo Marino is the operator named most often, with one-hour sailings from about EUR 12 and sunset sails from about EUR 25. Dolphins are sometimes seen, but no operator can promise them.
Food and Picasso tours
Private operators run Atarazanas market and tapas food tours, and Picasso-themed walks. The museum and the Casa Natal on Plaza de la Merced are the stops that matter: the Museo Picasso Málaga costs EUR 13, and the Casa Natal is EUR 3, with free entry on Sundays from 16:00.
Tips
- Compare what is included: entry tickets, audio guide, hotel pickup and group size vary a lot between listings.
- Book Caminito del Rey and Alhambra tickets first, then arrange transport around them.
- Wear sturdy closed shoes for the cathedral stairs and the Caminito.
