Family Activities in Latchi, Cyprus
Latchi suits families who like boats and beaches. There is no water park, zoo or amusement park in the village. The activities are simple and based on the sea, and the harbour itself gives children plenty to watch.
A swim-stop cruise
A shared cruise to the Blue Lagoon is the best family outing. The sea leg is about 30 to 45 minutes each way and the whole trip lasts 2.5 to 3 hours, with time to swim. Cyprus Mini Cruises sails the Nafsika II with fruit, local wine and orange squash on board, and the Alkion glass-bottom boat lets children look through the floor. Reviewers say there is little to see through the glass apart from the swim stop. Child fares exist on booking sites, so ask the operator for the child age bands and price when you book. Sailings can be cancelled for wind, so keep a spare day.
The harbour beach
Latchi beach is a strip of sand and pebbles beside the harbour, with showers, toilets and sunbeds. Travel sites report lifeguards in season, so check the lifeguard hours on the day. Pebbles are hard on bare feet, so pack water shoes for small children. Boats move in and out of the harbour, so swim away from the harbour mouth and keep young swimmers within arm’s reach.
Polis beach
Polis Municipal Beach is a few minutes east and holds a Blue Flag in 2026. VisitCyprus lists lifeguards from April to October. It is the nearest Blue Flag beach.
Harbour walks and lunch
The harbour promenade has working fishing boats next to yachts, and converted stone carob warehouses that now serve food. The usual order is fish meze for two or more, and children can share. Porto Latchi, Faros, Psaropoulos, Restomare and Yiangos and Peter are the harbour restaurants guides list. Check opening times in winter.
A short walk
The Baths of Aphrodite are a short drive west, with a free grotto pool and botanical garden. Please do not swim or wade in the pool. The Smigies picnic site in the Akamas Forest, about 2.5 km from Neo Chorio, has a 2.5 km circular trail that takes about an hour. It is a Forestry Department picnic site and trailhead.
Sun and safety
Midday heat in July and August is severe. Bring hats, high-factor sunscreen and plenty of water, and plan the cruise for the morning or late afternoon. Quad and buggy rides in the Akamas have led to accidents, so a rental car and a boat are safer choices with children. If you want a bigger attraction, Paphos has the Aphrodite Waterpark and Pafos Zoo, about 40 to 45 km away.
