Day Trips from Latchi: Akamas, Polis, Paphos
Latchi sits at the north-west end of the Paphos district, so the best day trips are close: the Akamas coast, Polis town and the villages along Chrysochou Bay. Paphos is the longest sensible drive. A few well-known places are too far or closed, and those are covered at the end.
Akamas by sea and by trail
Start with a Blue Lagoon cruise from the harbour, which takes about 30 to 45 minutes each way plus a swim stop. After lunch drive or ride bus 622 to the Baths of Aphrodite, where a short walk around the botanical garden and grotto fills an hour. Longer walkers can take the Aphrodite Nature Trail from the same car park. Fontana Amorosa is reachable only by boat or by a 4x4 on a rough track with exposed drops.
Polis Chrysochous
Polis is 4 km east of the harbour, so it works as a half-day. The Marion-Arsinoe Archaeological Museum on Leoforos Makariou III is free and opens Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 and Saturday from 09:00 to 15:00, closed on Sunday and public holidays. The town square has cafes, and Polis Municipal Beach, a Blue Flag beach in 2026, is a few minutes away.
The Pomos coast
Pomos has a small harbour and the Dragon Cave sea cave.
Paphos
Paphos is 40 to 45 km away, about 50 to 60 minutes by road. Kato Paphos Archaeological Park costs EUR 4.50 and the Tombs of the Kings take a separate EUR 2.50 ticket. By bus, route 645 links Paphos Karavella with Polis in about an hour for roughly EUR 2, and from Polis you change to route 622 for Latchi. The first 645 leaves Polis at 06:25 from 8 December 2025.
Bus route 622
Route 622 runs from Polis bus station through Prodromi and Latchi to the Baths of Aphrodite. From Polis the buses leave at 06:00, hourly from 08:00 to 12:00 and hourly from 14:00 to 18:00, eleven departures in all. From the Baths they leave at 06:30, hourly from 08:30 to 12:30 and hourly from 14:30 to 18:30. Weekend times match. Check pafosbuses.com or call +357 8000 5588 for fares, and time your return against the last bus.
What does not work as a day trip
Cape Greco is at the opposite end of the island, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours each way, so it belongs to a base in the east. Avakas Gorge is closed to visitors, and it lies on the Pegeia and Kathikas side in any case. Lara Bay turtle beach is reached by a rough track, usually from Pegeia, and is best left to a 4x4 or a guided tour. In turtle season, early June to late September, there are no umbrellas or sunbeds on the sand and no staying on the beach from one hour before sunset.
