Day Trips From Split by Bus, Boat and Car
Day trips from Split by bus, boat and car
Split is a good base for day trips because the bus network, the island ferries and the Krka road all start here. Choose by distance: Klis and Solin are short bus rides, Trogir and Omiš need about an hour, and Krka and the islands need a full day.
Trogir
Trogir is a UNESCO old town reached by Promet Split bus line 37 in about an hour, or by the seasonal Bura Line boat. The bus fare is €2.50 with the app and €5.00 from the driver. Bura Line adult fares run €6, €7 or €10 depending on the sector, and Split to Trogir is the top fare at €10. Children aged 4 to 10 pay €5 and under-4s travel free. The boat runs 3 to 6 sailings a day depending on the period, with weekend-only sailings in May and from late September, and the season ends on 31 October. The cathedral of St Lawrence has Radovan’s Portal, dating from 1240.
Salona and Solin
Salona lies in Solin, about 6 km from Split. The site includes the amphitheatre, the Manastirine necropolis, the baths and the episcopal complex, with the Tusculum museum at Don Frane Bulića 91. Tickets are €8 adult and €4 concession, and a combined Salona and Split Archaeological Museum ticket costs €10 and €5 and lasts 7 days. Solin is a short bus ride, with fares of €1.75 from the app and €3.50 from the driver.
Klis
Klis Fortress is about 12 km northeast of Split on a mountain pass. Take Promet line 22, which costs €2.00 with the app and €4.00 from the driver. Entry is about €12 for adults and about €4 for children, and opening hours change between sources, so check before you go.
Omiš and the Cetina
Promet line 60 runs from Split to Omiš, at €2.50 with the app and €5.00 from the driver. The town sits where the Cetina meets the sea, with the Mirabella and Fortica fortresses above it. The Zipline Omiš site lists the 8 lines and the €80 price. Rafting on the Cetina starts from Omiš at about €38 to €40 for adults from 1 April to 1 October, and canyoning is offered at Zadvarje.
Krka National Park
Krka is a walking and viewing day. The boardwalk at Skradinski Buk lets you see the falls, and swimming there has been banned since 1 January 2021. The park allows swimming only at a few specially marked spots elsewhere, so check the park before you pack swimwear. Park entry depends on the month: adult €40 from June to September (€30 after 15:00), €20 in April, May and October, and €7 from November to March. The boat from Skradin and the shuttle from Lozovac run only from 1 April to 31 October. The Krka park site has the current price list.
By car the trip takes about an hour. By bus, a direct service to Skradin takes about 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, with fares of about €12 to €18. There is no direct bus to Lozovac.
Islands: Brač, Hvar and Biševo
Jadrolinija sails from Split to Supetar on Brač in about 50 minutes, at about €6.50 for a foot passenger. A fast boat to Hvar Town takes about an hour, at about €10 to €25 depending on the operator. Many fast boats finish their season in autumn, so check Jadrolinija or Krilo for the current timetable. The Blue Cave on Biševo is a long boat day. Its entry fee of about €18 to €24 is paid in cash on the island on top of the boat price, there is no swimming inside, and the cave closes when the sea is rough.
