Dubrovnik for Couples: Sunsets and Dinners
Dubrovnik for Couples, From Dawn to Midnight
At 06:30 the Stradun belongs to the street sweepers and the bells, and the limestone is still wet from its morning wash. That is the first romantic hour in Dubrovnik, and it costs nothing.
Dawn
Walk the empty Stradun between 06:30 and 07:30 before delivery vans and cruise groups arrive. Continue to the Old Port and out along Porporela pier for the light on the water.
Morning
Take an early boat to Lokrum, which costs €30 per adult including the return crossing. The island has gardens, peacocks, quiet paths and a saltwater lake. Boats sail from the Old Port, and the reserve site shows the season, which closes mid-December to February. Go on the first sailings and leave before midday.
Afternoon
Rent a sea kayak for the late afternoon or evening paddle round the walls and across to Lokrum. Prices run about €35 to €55 per person depending on the operator, and some tours include a swim at Betina Cave. Compare sunset kayak tours and ask about group size.
Sunset
The cable car to Mount Srđ takes four minutes, with a €30 adult return. In early October the cars run until about 21:00, and in summer they run later. The timetable has the monthly hours, and December and January to March are closed. Ride up before sunset and stay for the lights coming on.
For a lower-key sunset, the Buža bars sit on the rocks outside the southern walls. Drinks run about €8 to €14, many take cash only, and the bars open in daylight. Swim only in calm sea, using the ladders and steps.
Dinner
Restaurant 360 holds one Michelin star in the 2026 Croatia guide and sits on the fortress wall above the Old Port. Reserve ahead and look at the menu on its own site.
For something earthier, a Dalmatian peka dinner for two, slow-roasted under an iron bell, runs about €50 to €85 and needs a booking at least three hours ahead. Black cuttlefish risotto in a traditional konoba is about €16 to €24 a plate.
A quiet extra
Take the Jadrolinija ferry to car-free Lopud for a day away from the Old Town crowds. Details are on Jadrolinija’s local lines page .
Etiquette
Wear a shirt and cover swimwear in town. Fines apply on the spot.
Verdict
For daytime strolls to pair with these evenings, see the walking routes page .
If you can only do one evening, do the cable car at sunset and a konoba dinner afterwards. Book the dinner first, because good tables fill quickly.
