St. Moritz Winter and Summer Activity Guide
St. Moritz sits at about 1,822 m in the Upper Engadin, in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It hosted the Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948 and still runs on the calendar of its mountains: skiing and ice sports from late November to March, lifts and walking from late spring. Prices are in Swiss francs (CHF). Many attractions close for a few weeks between seasons, so check dates before you plan a day around one.
Skiing and snowboarding
Three lift areas serve the town. Corviglia and Piz Nair are right above St. Moritz Dorf, Corvatsch is reached from the Surlej valley station, and Diavolezza has its own cable car. Corviglia has an early opening on 27 November 2026 for season-pass holders, with the main start about a day later. Corvatsch opened on 22 November in the 2025/26 season, and Diavolezza’s winter season usually begins around 19 December. Day-pass prices for 2026/27 vary with the date and with hotel and online offers such as Sleep + Ski and Snow-Deal, so compare them on mountains.ch before you buy. The Chantarella to Corviglia and St. Moritz Dorf funiculars went through a major overhaul in summer 2026, so check the reopening notice before counting on them for your first morning.
Corvatsch Snow Night
Every Friday evening from 4 December 2026 to April, the 4.2 km Corvatsch piste is floodlit. An evening ticket costs CHF 38 for adults and CHF 23 for children aged 6 to 12. An early-evening ticket for 19:00 to 21:00 is CHF 28 for adults and CHF 20 for children. Tickets are sold at the Surlej valley station only. The full price list is on the Corvatsch Diavolezza site .
Sledding on the Muottas Muragl run
The public toboggan run starts at Muottas Muragl and drops about 715 m over 4.2 km and 20 turns. A single run costs about CHF 43 for an adult and sled hire is about CHF 20. It is a demanding run, so it suits confident older children and adults more than beginners.
Olympia Bob Run guest ride
The Olympia Bob Run between St. Moritz and Celerina offers guest rides in a bobsleigh with a professional crew. A ride costs CHF 269 per person. Riders must be 16 or older, anyone under 18 needs a guardian’s signature, and guests aged 70 and over need a medical confirmation. Guest rides run from 22 December 2026 until early or mid March, and bookings are made through olympia-bobrun.ch .
Cresta Run
The Cresta Run is a private ice track run by the St. Moritz Tobogganing Club. Riders go alone, head first, one at a time, and there are no passenger rides. Beginners book a practice session in the online calendar on cresta-run.com and start from Junction. The run opens in mid-December and riding continues to the end of February or early March. Women ride on the same basis as men.
Summer on the lifts and the lakes
From late spring the cable cars run for walkers and sightseers. Adult return fares in summer 2026 are CHF 64 for Corvatsch, CHF 46 for Diavolezza, CHF 39 for Furtschellas and CHF 46 for the Surlej to Murtel section. Diavolezza runs daily until 15 November 2026. On Lake Silvaplana a wind-sport centre runs summer sessions on the afternoon thermal wind.
Stay safe in the mountains
Check the daily avalanche bulletin at whiterisk.ch before leaving the marked pistes, carry a transceiver, probe and shovel, and hire a certified mountain guide for off-piste or glacier routes.
