Snorkel, Dive and Island Tours on Lembongan
What the Tours Cover
Tours on Nusa Lembongan fall into four groups: snorkel boat trips, dive trips and courses, a driven loop of the island, and short mangrove and seaweed-farm outings. Nothing here is run on a bus, because the island has no buses and cars are rare. Most stops are reached by boat, pickup truck or on foot.
Snorkel Boat Tours
The standard trip visits three or four spots, usually Manta Bay, Crystal Bay, Gamat Bay and a mangrove stop. Manta Bay and Crystal Bay lie off the south and west coast of Nusa Penida, a short crossing from Lembongan. Shared tours run about IDR 200,000 to 600,000 depending on the number of stops and the gear, while a private boat costs roughly IDR 1,200,000 to 3,000,000. The marine protected area fee, about IDR 100,000 per foreign visitor, is usually included in the price, but confirm that when you book.
Rules for the manta stop are simple. Go with a guide, wear a lifejacket, and keep about 5 metres from the rays without touching or chasing them. Mantas are seen year-round but never guaranteed. Currents and surge are real at the site, boats crowd it, and a snorkeller died there in February 2026, so weak swimmers should skip it.
Island Tour by Truck or Buggy
A private tour of Lembongan itself is done by pickup truck or by an open-sided buggy that seats up to five. Truck charters start around IDR 100,000 to 150,000 per hop, and a buggy runs from about IDR 800,000 for five hours up to IDR 1,500,000 for 24 hours. A typical loop takes in Panorama Point, the Gala-Gala Underground House, the Yellow Bridge, Devil’s Tear, Dream Beach and the mangroves. At Devil’s Tear and Dream Beach the driver can park you at the viewpoint, but the water is not for swimming.
Dive Courses and Mola Mola Trips
Discover Scuba costs about US$60 and a full PADI Open Water course about US$395. Lembongan Dive Center trains beginners in Lembongan Bay with up to four students per instructor, and Blue Corner Dive, Legend Diving, World Diving and Two Fish Divers offer similar courses. Between July and October the same centres run trips for mola mola, which stay deep, at 25 to 40 metres, and are not guaranteed.
Mangrove and Seaweed Outings
Mangrove boat trips run at mid to high tide in the north-east. Seaweed farming started in the mid-1980s and is still visible in the plots south of Lembongan Village and in the channel toward Ceningan, so a farm stop is a quick look at a working industry rather than a workshop.
Talks on Marine Life
The Marine Megafauna Foundation has given evening lectures on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 18:30 at the Yoga Dunia venue. Check the schedule at the door before planning around them.
