Multi-Day Routes Through Lika-Senj County

A stay of two days or more lets you see Plitvice properly, walk a stage of the Premuzic Trail or link the inland and coastal halves of the county. Distances are long and services are thin, so book beds early. Prices are in euros.

Two days at Plitvice

The two-day adult ticket costs 15 euros from November to March, 39 euros in April, May and October, and 60 euros from June to September. It spreads the longer routes over two mornings: Programme K1 is 16.5 km from Entrance 1 and K2 is 17.5 km from Entrance 2, each taking 6 to 8 hours.

Guests at Hotel Jezero and at the Korana and Borje campsites can enter free on later days after a first-day ticket, and the extension is arranged at reception. Hotel Jezero stands next to Entrance 2. Camping, fires and fishing are banned inside the park itself.

The Premuzic Trail

The trail runs 42.6 km from Zavizan to Baske Ostarije at about 1,500 m, on a gentle gradient. It was built between 1930 and 1933 and has been protected cultural heritage since 2009. Of its length, 16.2 km lies inside Northern Velebit National Park and 26.4 km inside Velebit Nature Park.

Mountain huts make staged walking possible. The Zavizan hut can be reached on +385 53 614 209, and there is also the Alan hut. Plan for the season, which runs from early May to mid-November depending on snow. Ask the park about trail conditions before you set out.

Park passes

Northern Velebit National Park sells a 2-day ticket for 10 euros and a 3-day ticket for 15 euros, against 7 euros for one day. Discounted rates are 5, 8 and 13 euros. The main entrances at Babic Sica and Alan are open from 08:00 to 16:00.

A road loop with the ferry

A five-day loop fits the county’s main stops:

  1. Plitvice Lakes, with two days if you want a long route.
  2. Gospic and Smiljan, for the Tesla Centre (closed Mondays).
  3. Senj and Nehaj Fortress on the D8 coast road.
  4. The Prizna to Zigljen ferry, about 20 minutes, to northern Pag.
  5. Novalja and Zrće, then back by the same crossing.

The ferry ticket is valid for any departure that day, and strong bura winds can cancel sailings. Check HAK and DHMZ before driving the D8.

Booking tips

  • Reserve Plitvice-area beds before you buy the two-day ticket, since the extension depends on where you stay.
  • Phone the Zavizan hut well before your walk.
  • Keep a spare day in the plan for wind or snow.
