Tickets and Tours for Nessebar Sights
Nessebar has a small tour offer. Most visitors walk the Old Town peninsula on their own and buy tickets as they go. What exists is a ticket structure that rewards buying combinations, plus a short list of wine, boat and day-trip tours sold by online resellers. All prices are in euros and should be confirmed at the ticket desk or on the seller’s page.
Buying museum and church tickets
Tickets are sold at the Archaeological Museum, 2A Mesembria Street, just past the town gate. Buy them there rather than from people approaching you in the street. Children pay about half the adult price.
Single entries cost around these amounts, adult and child:
- Archaeological Museum: 4.60 and 2.30
- St Stephen church: 4.60 and 2.30
- Ethnographic Museum: 3.07 and 1.53
- St Saviour, St Paraskeva and St John the Baptist: 2.56 and 1.53 each
- Windmill: 2.56 and 1.53
Combined tickets
- Museum plus one church: 6.14 adult, 3.07 child
- St Stephen plus St Saviour: 6.14 adult, 3.07 child
- Museum plus Ethnographic Museum: 6.65 adult, 3.07 child
- Museum plus St Stephen: 7.67 adult, 4.09 child
- Museum, St Stephen and Ethnographic Museum: 10.23 adult, 5.11 child
- All churches plus windmill: 13.29 adult, 6.65 child
- All seven paid sites: 17.90 adult, 8.69 child
The all-sites ticket saves about 4.60 euros compared with buying singles. Several sites are free: the St Sophia ruins, the exterior of St John Aliturgetos, the Eleusa basilica ruins, the western walls and gate, and the working church of the Mother of God. Christ Pantocrator and the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel have been closed for conservation since 2022, so no ticket gets you inside them, but the brick and ceramic exterior of Pantocrator can be seen from outside the fence.
Guided tours sold online
Resellers list a Nessebar tour with a wine tasting and an audio guide tour that includes a winery visit. Captain Jack’s half-day boat tour with lunch leaves from Nessebar South Port and costs about 44 euros for an adult. A catamaran cruise from Sunny Beach and Nessebar costs about 54 euros with lunch and transfer. A guided fast-ferry day to Sozopol departs from Nessebar harbour, runs in season only, and can be cancelled when the sea is rough.
Tips
- Buy the combined ticket before the first church, because the museum desk is where it is sold.
- Small churches and the windmill close for a lunch break in high season, so plan them for morning or late afternoon.
- Off season, from mid-October to the end of March, small churches open by arrangement only.
