Family Days in Pomoravlje District
Families visiting Pomoravlje District can fill several days with a dinosaur park, a show cave, a waterfall walk and a few Jagodina attractions. Most are a short drive from the Belgrade to Niš motorway. Prices are in Serbian dinars (RSD), and you should check opening hours with each venue before you set out.
Natural History Centre of Serbia
The centre in Svilajnac is the strongest family stop in the district. Its dino park has life-size dinosaur replicas. Adults pay 850 RSD, children aged 3 to 12 pay 550 RSD, and children under 3 enter free. Pensioners and students pay 600 RSD.
Family tickets cost 2,100 RSD for two adults and one child, rising to 3,300 RSD for two adults and four children, which costs less than single tickets for a large group. Last entry is 60 minutes before closing, and hours can be longer in July and August. Prices are on the centre’s ticket page .
Resava Cave with children
The tour is guided, with about 800 m of walkway. The cave is cold and damp, so dress children in layers and bring jackets even in summer. Sandals are unsuitable, and there are steps. Children under 7 pay 50 RSD, students and pupils pay 650 RSD and adults pay 700 RSD. Tours start at 08:30 and then run every 45 minutes until 15:30.
Guides ask visitors not to touch formations, leave the path, use flash or smoke, and children can follow those rules more easily if you explain them before you go in. See the operator page .
Veliki Buk waterfall
The Veliki Buk waterfall at Lisine is about 20 m high and sits about 20 km east of Despotovac. It makes a short second stop after the cave. Keep children on the paths, because the site is a protected natural monument with first-category protection.
Jagodina attractions
Zoo. Jagodina Zoo is in the Đurđevo Brdo park, about 2 km from the centre, and is described as the second zoo in Serbia. Some animal-welfare groups have criticised conditions there, so read up and decide whether it suits your family.
Wax museum. The wax museum in Jagodina is described as the first in Serbia and shows roughly 28 to 30 figures.
Aqua Park. Aqua Park Jagodina, on Braće Dirak, is open in summer only. It is a separate site from the zoo, so plan transport between them.
Naive art museum. The Museum of Naive and Marginal Art at Boška Đuričića 10 is open Tuesday to Friday 10:00 to 18:00, Saturday 10:00 to 16:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 15:00.
Tips for the day
Pack water, snacks and layers, since the cave is cold. Rural signs are often in Cyrillic only, so keep a phone map ready for the drive.
