Dresden Attraction Tours: Opera, Vault, Dome
Some Dresden sights are easiest to see on a guided or timed visit. This page covers the ones that need a ticket slot or a reservation, with euro prices from the official sites. Prices change, so confirm them before you book.
Semperoper guided tours
The Semperoper offers its own tours through Semperoper Erleben. The Highlight tour lasts 45 minutes and costs 16 EUR for adults and 11 EUR reduced. Children under 6 go free. A combined Semperoper and Altstadt tour of about 2.5 hours costs 28 EUR (23 EUR reduced). If you already have an evening ticket, a 30 minute pre-performance tour costs 13 EUR. Book on semperoper-erleben.de ; the Highlight tour runs on most days, but not every day, so check the calendar.
Historic Green Vault
The Historic Green Vault is in the Residenzschloss. Entry is by a timed ticket: 18 EUR, 13.50 EUR reduced. It is always bought separately from other SKD tickets, and the day ticket does not include it. Pupils pay 2 EUR. Book online in advance through the Historic Green Vault site , because slots go first. A special exhibition of welcome goblets runs into early January 2027.
The Residenzschloss house ticket (18 EUR, 13.50 EUR reduced) covers the New Green Vault, the Armoury, the Turkish Chamber, the Kupferstich-Kabinett, the Coin Cabinet and the Hausmannsturm. A combined Residenzschloss ticket that includes the Historic Green Vault costs 28 EUR. The Residenzschloss is closed on Tuesdays, so do not plan the Green Vault for that day.
Hausmannsturm
The Hausmannsturm tower climb is included in the Residenzschloss house ticket. It is open only in the warm season, from late March to early November, with the last ascent at 16:30. It is not available in winter or on Tuesdays.
Frauenkirche dome ascent
You can climb the dome of the Frauenkirche on your own for 12 EUR (7 EUR reduced, 24 EUR family). The ascent starts in stair tower G with 174 steps up to about 29 metres, then a spiral ramp and more stairs, including one steep ladder-style flight, up to the platform at 67 metres. There is no lift, so the climb is not suitable for anyone who cannot manage stairs. Weather can close the platform. A guided ascent for up to 25 people takes about an hour and needs a reservation; see the Frauenkirche dome ascent page .
Jewish Dresden: guided visits
The Neue Synagoge at Hasenberg 1 stands on the site of Gottfried Semper’s synagogue, burned in November 1938. Its interior can only be seen on a guided visit. The Old Jewish Cemetery on Pulsnitzer Straße, founded in 1751 and the oldest Jewish burial ground in Saxony, is also visited by guided tour only; men are asked to cover their heads. Ask the Jewish community of Dresden or the association Hatikva for dates. Treat both visits as acts of remembrance: dress quietly and follow the guide’s instructions.
