Sydney 4 Day Itinerary (No Tourist Traps)
Four days is our 3-day plan , harbour, Bondi and Taronga Zoo, plus a day at Darling Harbour for anyone who wants the aquarium-and-wax-museum cluster without turning it into a whole trip. Need Manly or the inner west too? Our 5-day and 6-day plans extend this same spine.

Day 1: Circular Quay, the Opera House and the Bridge
Book the Opera House’s official guided tour ($48-50 adult, via the box above) for the morning; there’s no walk-in option for the interior, only the tour or a performance ticket. Spend the afternoon in The Rocks, then walk the free Harbour Bridge pedestrian path, or pay about $25-30 for the Pylon Lookout’s enclosed lookout instead of BridgeClimb’s $328+ full climb. End at the free Royal Botanic Garden and Mrs Macquarie’s Chair before dinner in the CBD.
Day 2: Bondi Beach and the coastal walk
Bus to Bondi (30-40 minutes), swim between the flags, and walk the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk: 6 kilometres past Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly and Gordons Bay, 2-3 hours, free, and the highest-value hours in this whole itinerary. Bus back from Coogee.
Day 3: Taronga Zoo across the harbour
The Taronga Zoo ferry from Circular Quay takes 12 minutes. Standalone entry runs from about $51 adult; the Zoo Express combo (ferry, entry, Sky Safari cable car, book it through the box above) runs roughly $67-70 and is the better route in; current hours and prices sit at taronga.org.au . Ride the cable car up, then walk downhill through the koalas, wombats and platypus enclosures.
Day 4: Darling Harbour, without overpaying for it
Darling Harbour clusters SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium ($39), WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo ($26), Madame Tussauds ($25) and Sydney Tower Eye ($22) within a few minutes’ walk. Is it worth buying every ticket separately? No. A combo pass across two or more (book it through the box above) claims up to 50-60% off buying each attraction on its own, and picking one at full price is the weak version of this day. The Australian National Maritime Museum next door is free general entry and worth an hour if you want something that isn’t another ticketed attraction.
Walk or bus to Chinatown in Haymarket for dinner: Dixon Street’s Cantonese yum cha institutions now sit alongside Sichuan, Malaysian and Korean kitchens, generally cheaper and faster than anything back around Darling Harbour’s waterfront restaurants. Before your flight, remember the airport station carries its own access fee, about $17.92 on top of the standard fare, so budget accordingly for that final ride.
