Fiji 4 Day Itinerary (No Tourist Traps)
Four days in Fiji is the first version of this route with a real overnight island stay, not just a day cruise. It extends the 3 day plan by swapping a second Nadi night for a night in the Mamanucas, and it nests inside the 5 day version once you can spare more time on the water.
Book these before you go: the Sabeto hot springs and mud pool , the Coral Coast kava and Natadola combo tour , the Mamanuca Islands Explorer day cruise if you add a second island day, and a Mamanuca resort room, which sells out fast in the July-August peak.
Day 1: Nadi and the Sabeto mud pools
Land at Nadi International Airport (NAN), not Suva’s Nausori. A taxi to Nadi town runs roughly FJD15-20; to Port Denarau, budget FJD30-45 or a shuttle around FJD13 per person.
Spend the afternoon at the Sabeto hot springs and mud pool (FJD10 to look, FJD20 for the mud bath and spring soak, cash-only in practice) and the Garden of the Sleeping Giant next door (FJD20 adult, 9am to 5pm, last entry 4pm). A Denarau hotel works fine for the night. Dinner: roti and curry from a local spot, FJD7-15.
Day 2: A Mamanuca day cruise
Ride South Sea Cruises’ Mamanuca Islands Explorer, a roughly 3-hour catamaran circuit from Port Denarau, FJD159 (about USD72), hotel transfers included, food and snorkel gear extra. Southseacruisesfiji.com has current stops and timing, and their resort transfers page covers tomorrow’s overnight boat run. Back at Denarau by late afternoon; pack for tomorrow’s overnight transfer.
Day 3: The Coral Coast on the Queens Road
Drive or book a driver along the Queens Road toward the Coral Coast. Stop at the Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park (FJD10 adult, guided walks FJD50-100, open 8am to 4:30pm) and add the Coral Coast kava ceremony and Natadola Beach combo tour, a real bundled village visit and beach afternoon. Overnight on the Coral Coast or head back to Denarau to stage for tomorrow’s boat.
Day 4: Overnight in the Mamanucas
This is the day that actually earns the extra time. Take a resort transfer boat or the Yasawa Flyer from Port Denarau out to a Mamanuca island, a 15 to 45 minute run depending on the resort. Check rates on Booking.com and book the resort’s own transfer as part of the room where it is offered, rather than a standalone boat ticket. Boat and seaplane transfers run on fixed daytime schedules tied to the Flyer timetable, not on demand, so confirm your pickup time before you leave Nadi. Spend the rest of the day on the reef right off the resort beach; a day cruise is a sampler, an actual night on the island is a different trip.
Getting around and money
Fiji drives on the left. The currency is the Fijian dollar (FJD), and VAT sits at 12.5% since August 2025, usually already in the quoted price. Check Fiji Airways if a domestic hop ever beats a road leg on your dates.
Four days gets you one real island night, which is the minimum for this trip to feel like more than a mainland stopover. Spend a fifth day extending the island stay before you add anything new.
