Fiji 3 Day Itinerary (No Tourist Traps)
Three days in Fiji is Nadi, one island day trip, and a Coral Coast run, not a padded Suva side quest. This builds directly on the 2 day version of this route by adding a full day on the Queens Road, and it nests inside the 4 day plan once you have time for an overnight island stay.
Book these before you go: the Mamanuca Islands Explorer day cruise , the Sabeto hot springs and mud pool , the Coral Coast kava and Natadola combo tour , and a Coral Coast resort room for the dry-season peak.
Day 1: Nadi and the Sabeto mud pools
Land at Nadi International Airport (NAN), not Suva’s Nausori. A taxi into Nadi town runs roughly FJD15-20; to Port Denarau, where South Sea Cruises runs the island boats, budget FJD30-45 or a shared shuttle around FJD13 per person.
Spend the afternoon at the Sabeto hot springs and mud pool, 20 minutes from the airport: FJD10 to look, FJD20 for the mud bath and spring soak, cash-only in practice. Add the Garden of the Sleeping Giant next door, FJD20 adult entry, 9am to 5pm with last entry at 4pm.
Check rates on Booking.com for a Denarau or Nadi hotel. Dinner: a roti and curry meal from a local spot runs FJD7-15.
Day 2: A Mamanuca day cruise
Book onto South Sea Cruises’ Mamanuca Islands Explorer, a roughly 3-hour catamaran circuit from Port Denarau, FJD159 (about USD72) with hotel transfers included, food and snorkel gear extra. Southseacruisesfiji.com has the current schedule.
This is a sampler, not an overnight island stay, treat it that way. Back at Denarau by late afternoon for dinner and an early night before tomorrow’s drive.
Day 3: The Coral Coast on the Queens Road
Rent a car or book a driver and take the Queens Road toward Suva, but only as far as the Coral Coast. Stop at the Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park (FJD10 adult entry, guided walks FJD50-100, open 8am to 4:30pm daily), Fiji’s first national park and a genuinely different landscape from the resort coast.
Add the Coral Coast kava ceremony and Natadola Beach combo tour, a real bundled day out that pairs a village kava visit with Natadola’s genuinely swimmable sand, the exception on a Coral Coast lagoon that is otherwise shallow and tidal. A Coral Coast resort works for an overnight instead of driving back to Nadi, if the timing suits.
Fiji Airways runs the Nadi-Suva domestic hop in about 30-45 minutes if a longer Suva stop tempts you on a future trip; on fijiairways.com you can check current schedules, though this 3 day plan turns back toward Nadi.
Getting around and money
Fiji drives on the left. The currency is the Fijian dollar (FJD), not USD or AUD, and VAT sits at 12.5% since August 2025, usually already folded into the quoted price.
Three days covers Nadi’s essentials and one honest day of island water, but it still skips an overnight stay entirely. If a fourth day appears, spend it on a boat, not on more mainland sightseeing.
