Fiji 2 Day Itinerary (No Tourist Traps)
Two days in Fiji means Nadi plus one island day trip, not a rushed dash to the Yasawas. Land at Nadi, spend day one on the mainland’s best quick wins, then ride a Mamanuca day cruise on day two before you fly out. Add a day at a time and this same route grows into the 3 day and 7 day versions of this itinerary.
Book these before you go: the Mamanuca Islands Explorer day cruise sells out on dry-season weekends, Sabeto hot springs and mud pool entry is worth pre-booking with transport included, and a Denarau or Nadi hotel room for the July-August peak.
Day 1: Nadi and the Sabeto mud pools
Land at Nadi International Airport (NAN), Fiji’s real gateway , not Suva’s Nausori. A taxi into Nadi town runs roughly FJD15-20; if you are staying at Denarau, the marina where the island boats leave, budget FJD30-45 or a shared shuttle around FJD13 per person.
Spend the afternoon at the Sabeto hot springs and mud pool, about 20 minutes from the airport. Entry is FJD10 to just look, FJD20 for the full mud bath and spring soak, and the site runs mostly cash-only in practice, so carry small notes. Pair it with the Garden of the Sleeping Giant nearby, a former orchid collection with 2,000-plus varieties, FJD20 adult entry, open 9am to 5pm with last entry at 4pm.
Check rates on Booking.com for a Denarau or Nadi hotel for the night. Dinner: a roti and curry meal from a casual Indo-Fijian spot runs FJD7-15, a fraction of a resort dinner for the same food.
Day 2: A Mamanuca day cruise, then departure
Book onto South Sea Cruises’ Mamanuca Islands Explorer, a roughly 3-hour catamaran circuit from Port Denarau, FJD159 (about USD72) including hotel transfers; food and snorkel gear are extra. Southseacruisesfiji.com lists the current schedule and stops.
This is the honest version of “seeing the islands” on a 2 day trip. The Yasawas sit 2 to 8 hours away by boat each way, so do not try to fit them into a weekend, that is a job for the longer versions of this route.
Back at Denarau by late afternoon, with time for a last swim or a walk around the marina before an evening flight out of Nadi. If your flight is the next morning instead, spend the extra hours at the Sri Siva Subramaniya temple in Nadi town rather than adding a rushed third destination. Check Fiji Airways for your onward schedule if you are connecting through Nadi rather than flying out direct.
Getting around and money
Fiji drives on the left. Fiji uses the Fijian dollar (FJD), not USD or AUD, even though some resort pricing is displayed in USD or AUD for convenience; VAT sits at 12.5% since August 2025 and is usually already in the quoted price.
Two days will not show you real Fiji, only Nadi’s front porch. If you can stretch to a third day, put it toward the Coral Coast or an overnight island stay before you add a second day trip.
