Romantic Things to Do in Seychelles
Romance in Seychelles is mostly about timing: early light on empty granite beaches, a long lunch on the sand and a boat day to an island with no crowds. The ideas below are spread over Mahe, Praslin and La Digue, and each one comes with the practical detail a couple needs, including where the sea is a risk rather than a backdrop.
Dawn at Anse Source d’Argent
The beach is on La Digue and is reached through L’Union Estate, whose gate opens daily at 06:00. Entry is SCR 150 per person, valid for the day. Staying one or two nights on the island lets you arrive before the day-trip boats. The shallows inside the reef are good for wading, but conditions change, so read the signs and ask locally before you swim. The official sea safety guide lists the beach among the island’s surf locations. The estate also has a Takamaka rum showroom and tasting bar, opened in late 2025.
A morning at Anse Lazio
Anse Lazio on Praslin is lifeguarded, which few beaches in Seychelles are. It has no protecting reef and gets heavy swell from December to March, when red flags go up, so swim only when the flags allow. Arrive before 10:00, because the small car park, about 25 cars, is reported to fill early in the high season. Lunch at Bonbon Plume or Le Chevalier on the sand is the usual plan, with mains reported at around SCR 350 to 500.
Anse Georgette by permission
Anse Georgette is a public beach on Praslin, but the road passes through the grounds of the Constance Lemuria resort. Access by this route needs advance permission, reported as three to five days ahead, and the resort can refuse. Only a handful of non-guests are admitted each day. The alternatives are a boat or the coastal walk from Anse Lazio. Ask your accommodation or the resort’s reservations team, and do not turn up without permission.
Rum for two
Takamaka Rum at La Plaine St Andre on Mahe opens Monday to Saturday, 10:30 to 16:30. Free guided tours run at set times, and a tasting costs SCR 175 per person. The estate has a rum shack, a food truck and a garden, and it is about 7 km south of the airport. It suits a half day on arrival or departure.
Island days by boat
Moyenne Island in Ste Anne Marine Park has quiet trails, tortoises and pirate graves, with a loop trail of about 30 minutes. Curieuse, off Praslin, has mangrove boardwalks and tortoises, and SPGA barbecue tables cost SCR 150 each. A night barbecue has a base fee of SCR 1,000 plus tables. A transparent-kayak paddle at Anse Source d’Argent costs about EUR 45 for three hours from one reseller. Wear life jackets on any boat, and snorkel inside the marked zones only.
Dining on Praslin
Cafe des Arts at Anse Volbert (Cote d’Or) and Le Chevalier at Anse Lazio are two places to look at for dinner on Praslin. Book ahead in the high season. For a private beach dinner or a sunset sail, ask your hotel for a written price.
Sea safety for couples
The west coast is unsafe for swimming from about December to March, and the east coast from about May to September. Lifeguards are only at Beau Vallon, Anse Lazio and Cote d’Or. Do not swim at Anse Cocos, Grand Anse or Petite Anse on La Digue, or at Anse Intendance on Mahe. They carry official warning signs.
Local manners
Topless sunbathing is uncommon and nudism is not accepted, so keep it discreet. Drug laws are strict.
For honeymoon stays, compare places on Booking.com , and read the Takamaka visiting page for current hours.
