Romantic Getaways in Doha
Travel advisory, as of November 2026. Qatar was hit by Iranian missile and drone strikes from 28 February 2026, and flights to Doha were suspended before returning in phases from March and April. Missile barrages over Doha were reported again in July, so do not assume a ceasefire is holding. The UK FCDO does not advise against all travel to Qatar but warns of short-notice airport and airspace closures, and the US State Department publishes its own advisory. Choose flexible bookings and check your insurer before you commit.
A romantic Doha in practice
Doha suits couples who like skylines, good dinners and a slow pace by the water. The best months are November to March, when evenings are cool enough for the Corniche and open-air terraces. Local rules shape the trip: public displays of affection between any couples can lead to trouble, and FCDO local-laws guidance says unmarried couples living together is an offence, so ask your hotel about its policy before you book.
Island time at Banana Island
Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara is reached by a catamaran from Al Shyoukh Terminal on the Corniche, about 30 minutes each way. Day visitors need a day pass, listed at about QAR 395 per adult on the Anantara site , and sunset passes sail around 15:00 and return around 21:00. Photo ID is checked at the terminal. Pass types and times vary, so read the current offer.
Dinner with a view
Nobu Doha sits at the Four Seasons Hotel on the Corniche, reached across a causeway; one listing shows dinner service and closing on Sundays, so reserve and confirm. Parisa in Souq Waqif serves Persian food in a room that is popular with couples, and reservations are advised. Hakkasan operates at the St. Regis Doha in West Bay. All three serve higher price tiers, so check menus and book ahead. Licensed hotel restaurants are the only places that serve alcohol, and guests must be 21 or older with original photo ID.
Sunset and skyline
Walk the Corniche from the Museum of Islamic Art end in the last hour of daylight and watch the West Bay towers light up. The Pearl’s Qanat Quartier has canal-side lanes and cafes that suit an after-dinner stroll, reached from Legtaifiya Metro station. Place Vendome Mall in Lusail has a dancing-fountain show every hour between 19:00 and 23:00 and a nightly laser show.
A night at Sharq Village
Sharq Village and Spa, a Ritz-Carlton hotel on the coast, is listed with 2026 availability. Ask the hotel directly about spa treatments and beachfront dining rather than relying on third-party descriptions.
Wooden-boat evenings
Wooden dhow boats leave from jetties along the Corniche for short evening cruises of the skyline. Agree the price, the duration and the departure point before boarding.
