Doha Attraction Tours and Guided Visits
Travel advisory, as of November 2026. Qatar was hit by Iranian missile and drone strikes from 28 February 2026, and flights to Doha were suspended before returning in phases from March and April. Missile barrages over Doha were reported again in July, so do not assume a ceasefire is holding. The UK FCDO does not advise against all travel to Qatar but warns of short-notice airport and airspace closures, and the US State Department publishes its own advisory. Check your airline and insurer before you book. Tours can be rescheduled or cancelled at short notice.
Choosing a guided option
Doha is compact, so most guided tours are half-day city loops or longer drives out to the desert and the north coast. Ask any operator what the price includes, whether entry tickets are covered, and how pick-up works. For desert trips ask for the operator’s licence and the driver’s experience in soft sand. FCDO advice is that desert travel is hazardous without a properly equipped 4x4, so travel in convoy, carry water and a phone, and tell someone your plans.
Hop-on hop-off bus
Doha Bus sells a 24-hour hop-on hop-off ticket through several resellers. Winter operating hours are reported as about 10:00 to 18:00, with a night tour leaving from the Souq Waqif stop, and a full loop takes roughly two and a half hours with buses about every 40 to 45 minutes. Stops include Souq Waqif, Katara, The Pearl and the Museum of Islamic Art. Prices vary by reseller and ticket validity is described differently from site to site, so read the terms before buying.
Inland Sea safari
The standard trip drives south to Sealine, lowers the tyres and crosses dunes to Khor Al Adaid, about 60 to 75 minutes from Doha plus the dune crossing. Visit Qatar recommends November to April. Listings range widely, with shared half-day trips advertised from around QAR 200 to 250 a head. Khor Al Adaid is on UNESCO’s Tentative List , not the World Heritage List. Animal rides offered at some stops are best skipped; the dunes, the sandboarding and the bay are the draw.
Walks and tours in the city centre
Guided walks of Souq Waqif and Msheireb Downtown are the easiest tours to join, and some include the falcon hospital. The Msheireb Museums themselves are free to enter and can be visited alone. Resellers also sell multi-museum tours, but museum tickets are cheaper bought direct through Qatar Museums , and the Discover One Pass is reported at about QAR 70 for five days across the main museums.
North-coast tours
Operators run day tours to Al Zubarah Archaeological Site, Qatar’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site, about 100 km northwest of Doha and often combined with Al Khor. Allow half a day or more, and confirm opening hours with Qatar Museums because sources disagree.
Banana Island
The Anantara day pass includes the catamaran from Al Shyoukh Terminal, about 30 minutes each way. Bring photo ID, as it is checked at the terminal. Pass types and sailing times vary, so read the current offer on the resort site .
