Mumbai Attraction Tours and Guided Visits
Guided attraction tours in Mumbai fall into a few clear types: a community walk in Dharavi, heritage walks in the Fort district, a weekend bus ride past the Victorian landmarks and, with prior permission, a look inside a working film studio. All prices are in Indian rupees (INR) and are starting points, so check the operator’s own page.
Dharavi with Reality Tours and Travel
Dharavi is a dense working neighbourhood with potters, tanneries, textile units and recyclers, and it should only be visited with a local guide. Reality Tours and Travel is the operator most often cited. Its own site states that no cameras are allowed on the tour, to respect residents’ privacy; guests receive a download link for photos afterwards. It also says 80 per cent of its post-tax profits go to its charity, Reality Gives.
The standard 2 hour 30 minute walk is listed from about INR 1,600, with longer versions from about INR 2,400 that add a pottery workshop or a family lunch. Another page on the same site shows higher per-person rates for shared and private tours, so confirm the price on the operator’s tour page . Children of any age are accepted, but the operator lists low roofs, open drains, exposed wiring and fumes, so it suits some families better than others. Meeting arrangements arrive with the booking confirmation.
Inside the CSMT walk
Mumbai Walking Tours runs a roughly 1.5 hour walk of about 1.5 km that goes inside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, the Victorian Gothic station completed in 1887-88 and a UNESCO site since 2004. The station is a working one, so the walk threads between commuters. No price is listed, so ask when you enquire. The station was among the places attacked in November 2008; keep the tone respectful when you pass through.
BEST heritage bus tour
The city’s bus company runs a heritage tour on an air-conditioned electric double-decker, on weekends. Tickets are digital and sold only on the Chalo app. Fares reported in 2023 were about INR 150 for the upper deck and INR 75 for the lower deck, so expect them to have changed. The older open-deck diesel sightseeing buses were withdrawn in October 2025, so do not expect an open top. See the report on the electric double-decker for background.
Khaki Tours
Khaki Tours, founded by Bharat Gothoskar, has run heritage walks and jeep tours since around 2015, according to secondary sources. No price has been confirmed, so request a quote and ask what the route covers.
Film City
Film City in Goregaon East is a working studio. Its official site lists no public tour and no price, and visits are by prior permission, with the official site pointing to an external tours site. Treat any fixed price you see online with caution.
Getting between meeting points
Black-and-yellow taxis start at about INR 33 for the first 1.5 km under the fares in force from 1 September 2026. Autos start at about INR 27, but they do not run in South Mumbai, only from around Bandra and Sion northwards. In the June to September monsoon, allow extra time for waterlogged roads and skip any seafront stop at high tide.
