Gdańsk for Groups: Paintball, Boats, Castles
Groups come to Gdańsk for three reasons: a stag or hen weekend, a reunion of friends, or a family spread across three generations. Each wants something different, and the same few activities can serve all three if you book them in the right order.
Paintball and ropes at Kolibki
Kolibki Adventure Park, at ul. Bernadowska 1 on the Sopot-Gdynia border, is the group activity with the most energy in it. The park has paintball, a quad track, a tree zipline and three graded rope courses (Samurai, medium and mini), so a group can split by appetite and regroup for the zipline. It opens daily 09:00-19:00, closing at 16:00 from November to March. Book a slot for a large group ahead on adventurepark.pl .
Take the SKM to Sopot, then share taxis or a Bolt for the final stretch. For a weekend built around it, compare Sopot stays on Booking.com , where larger apartments make a group base cheaper than several hotel rooms.
A galleon on the Motława
Two wooden galleons, Lew and Czarna Perła, sail from the quay near the Straganiarska Gate on Rybackie Pobrzeże, a short walk along the river from the Green Gate. The route runs down the Motława past the Crane and the shipyard cranes towards the harbour mouth at Westerplatte, taking roughly 30 to 45 minutes out and about 50 minutes back. Departures run roughly hourly through the day in the April to October season. A boat keeps a group together in a way a walk never does. Fares and the day’s sailings are on galeony.pl .
Westerplatte, at the end of the route, is a Second World War memorial. If your group lands there, treat it as one.
Malbork as a group day
Malbork Castle admits up to 500 visitors an hour and sells timed tickets online at bilety.zamek.malbork.pl, so book a group’s slot before you board the train. A guide in Polish leaves every 30 minutes, or each person takes an audio guide in one of 12 languages, both included in the ticket. The audio guide suits a mixed group, since everyone walks at their own pace and meets at the exit. Prices change with the season, and the current tariff is on zamek.malbork.pl . For a coach with a guide instead, search Malbork tours on GetYourGuide .
For stag and hen groups
The Main Town at night carries one specific risk, and groups of men are its main target. Promoters on Długa and Długi Targ offer free entry or free shots in basement clubs, where drinks are spiked and cards charged for thousands of złoty. This is a documented, recurring pattern. In 2017 police raided a Długa-area club running the scheme, and in May 2022 a nationwide operation by more than 500 officers hit a go-go club network with venues in Gdańsk and Sopot, where losses ran from several thousand to about a million złoty per victim. Decide the evening’s bars before you go out and ignore anyone who approaches you in the street.
Drinking alcohol in streets, squares, parks and on promenades is illegal in Poland, and police issue on-the-spot fines of 100 PLN. Keep drinks inside licensed bars or on their terraces.
The verdict
For a stag or hen weekend, Kolibki paintball in the day is the activity worth building around. For a family group, the galleon and Malbork’s audio guide work better. Skip any plan that depends on a stranger’s invitation after dark.

Before you go
Give one person the job of buying everyone’s SKM tickets in the Jakdojade or Koleo app before you reach the station, so the group boards the same train together.
