Family Activities in Quebec City and Beyond
Quebec City works well with children, though the cobbled hills and stairs are hard on strollers. Prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are mostly 2026 figures, so check the operator before you commit. Ask for child and family tickets, because many attractions price by age or height.
Aquarium du Québec
The aquarium is at 1675 avenue des Hôtels in Sainte-Foy, not in the old town. Animals listed include polar bears, walruses, harbour seals, leopard sharks, a giant Pacific octopus, jellyfish and touch tanks. Sea otters were announced for summer 2026, so ask whether they have arrived. It opens daily from 9:00 to 18:00 from 1 June to 7 September 2026, with last entry at 16:30 and shorter hours after that. It is closed on 25 December. Tickets are tiered by residency, so expect about 25 to 34 CAD for an adult and about half that for children, and check the Sépaq rates page. Road works on avenue des Hôtels continue into 2027, so allow extra time to arrive. Rates are on the Sépaq rates page .
Montmorency Falls and the Citadelle
Montmorency Falls has a suspension bridge across the top, a cable car and a 487-step staircase. The stairs and bridge are slick in winter. Adult daily access was about 13.90 CAD in high season, with a lower rate for children, and the full details are in the day trips guide. At the Citadelle, children 10 and under enter free, and a family of up to two adults and three under-18s paid 50 CAD in 2026. The changing of the guard is on Wednesday to Sunday at 10:00 from late June to August.
Indoor options
Méga Parc in the Galeries de la Capitale, at 5401 boulevard des Galeries, is an indoor amusement park. General admission was listed at 7.99 CAD plus per ride or pass prices, and a Patinarium skating trail of about 750 feet runs all year. See Méga Parc . Bora Parc, an indoor waterpark, is open year-round. The Musée de la civilisation sells a family ticket at about 58 CAD, and children 5 and under are free.
At the Plains of Abraham Museum, children aged 5 to 12 enter free from 19 June to 7 September 2026, then pay about 4.75. A family ticket was 32.50.
Winter with children
Village Vacances Valcartier opens its winter play centre from 3 January to 21 March 2027. A combined play centre and Hôtel de Glace day package was listed at 69.99 CAD. The ice hotel is priced by height, and children under 1 m are free. Dress children in several layers, because the wind off the river is sharp. Skating is on land only, and the Plains of Abraham ice ring and the Place D’Youville rink are both free.
Spring and summer extras
Sugar shacks open from mid-March to the end of April, and Cabane à sucre Familiale in Sainte-Famille on Île d’Orléans is one that is listed. The Train de Charlevoix leaves from Montmorency Falls from early June to about 1 November, with an 8:00 departure and a 15:00 return, from about 169 CAD round trip to Baie-Saint-Paul. It is a long day for small children. See the train’s website .
Getting around with kids
The funicular costs 7 CAD one way, and children under 117 cm ride free. On RTC buses, up to three children aged 6 to 12 ride free with each adult who holds a valid fare, and children 5 and under are always free. You can browse family tours on GetYourGuide .
