Family Activities in Manila With Kids
Kids do better in Manila with fewer, longer stops than a packed sightseeing list. These four hold up to a full half-day each without the wait-in-line frustration that wears families down by 2pm.
The Mind Museum, BGC
The metro’s best dedicated science stop for kids: hands-on exhibits, a life-size dinosaur skeleton, and enough interactive stations to fill three hours without repeats. Entry is ₱625 adult or ₱550 child for a 3-hour slot, or ₱750 for an all-day pass covering either age group. Book ahead through the Mind Museum site or a Mind Museum ticket through a general marketplace, since weekend slots sell out.
Manila Ocean Park
An oceanarium behind Quirino Grandstand with a walk-through shark tunnel, sea lion and penguin shows. Online package tickets run ₱690 to ₱1,100 through the official Manila Ocean Park site or a bundled Ocean Park ticket ; walk-in gate rates are marked up to ₱1,500 to ₱2,000 and worth avoiding. Budget half a day, more if you catch a scheduled animal show.
National Museum of Natural History
Free, air-conditioned, and the glass “Tree of Life” atrium elevator is a genuine kid-pleaser on its own. A 2026 exhibit here now displays the preserved remains of Mali, Manila Zoo’s elephant who died in 2023, clearly labeled as an educational specimen rather than a live animal, alongside the museum’s other natural-history collections.
Manila Zoo
Reopened after a 2022 renovation with tigers, African lions, birds of prey, pythons, crocodiles, Philippine deer and primates. It’s a real, modestly scaled zoo rather than a major wildlife park, and there’s no elephant on exhibit. Gate pricing is tiered: ₱150 adult / ₱100 child for Manila residents, ₱300 adult / ₱250 child for non-residents, with a 20% senior/PWD discount and free entry under age two.
A family day trip
Villa Escudero, about 2.5 hours south, runs carabao-cart rides, bamboo rafting and a restaurant built over a waterfall. It’s an 8 to 10-hour day at roughly ₱1,800 to ₱2,100 per person, best saved for a trip with at least five days in Manila so it doesn’t crowd out the city stops.
What to skip with kids
Manila Bay, Dolomite Beach and LPPCHEA all carry active swimming bans from DENR, so treat Baywalk as a sunset stroll, not a beach day, and note Dolomite Beach is closed every Thursday.
Tip: Carry a printed Klook or official-site confirmation for Ocean Park and Mind Museum; phone signal near both entrances can be unreliable at peak hours.
