Beyond Cebu City: Multi-Day Trip Options
Cebu Island runs more than 200km end to end, which is why the province’s best multi-day trips fan out in four different directions from Cebu City rather than sitting along one route. Pick a direction based on what you actually want, diving, beach time, or variety, since combining more than one in a single trip usually means shortchanging all of them.
Malapascua, 2 to 3 nights, for divers
Reaching Malapascua takes 4 to 5 hours overland from the Cebu North Bus Terminal to Maya Port, then a short outrigger crossing, so this only makes sense as an overnight trip, never a day trip. The reward is diving with wild pelagic thresher sharks at dawn on Kimud Shoal or Monad Shoal, the only place on earth with reliably daily sightings, plus the whitetip-shark tunnel at Gato Island and a day-boat run to the sandbar at Kalanggaman Island. Bohol and Panglao, 3 nights

Southern Cebu, 3 to 4 nights, for variety
This route rewards a self-drive rental or a hired van and covers the most ground: a day in Moalboal for the sardine run and turtles, a day combining Kawasan Falls canyoneering with a sunset climb up Osmeña Peak, a day on the southern waterfall trail through Aguinid, Dao and Tumalog Falls, and a final day at the sandbar inside Sumilon Island Marine Sanctuary. From there, Apo Island’s community-run sanctuary lets you snorkel over wild hawksbill and green sea turtles feeding on seagrass just off the boat, and travelers with extra time extend further to the small island of Siquijor for Cambugahay Falls, centuries-old balete trees, and cliff jumping at Salagdoong Beach.

Divers should point at Malapascua, beach-focused travelers at Bantayan, and anyone who wants a bit of everything at the Southern Cebu circuit; trying to string together more than two of these five in one trip usually means too many transfers and not enough time at any single stop.
