Romance in Boracay Isn't on the Sand
The candlelit beach dinner in every Boracay honeymoon photo you’ve seen is illegal now. The 2018 rehabilitation closure ended six months later with a permanent buffer zone around the waterline, and nobody updated the honeymoon brochures. Here’s the version that’s actually allowed.

Charter your own outrigger paraw out of Station 1 or 2 instead of a shared sunset run. Book a private sunset paraw sailing trip and confirm the word “private” specifically; the same boats also run shared group departures at the identical hour.
Dinner happens on a terrace, not the beach
The 30-meter buffer rule bans dining tables on the sand, so the candlelit dinner happens on a terrace or garden set back from the waterline instead. Sirena Seafood Restaurant at Shangri-La, Mosaic Latin American Grill at Crimson, and Kasbah in Station 1 all do the oceanfront version legally: table on solid ground, view doing the work. Request a sunset-facing table specifically when you book; the same restaurant can seat you garden-side instead if you don’t ask, and the difference matters more here than at almost any other dinner you’ll book on this trip.
Hilot massage, in private
Mandala Spa & Resort Villas and CHI The Spa at Shangri-La both run traditional Filipino Hilot massage, warm banana leaves and virgin coconut oil, in private roofed cabanas rather than out on the sand. Book the couple’s slot at least a day ahead during peak weeks; the private cabanas are limited and go first, leaving only the shared treatment rooms for walk-ins.
Ilig-Iligan Beach beats a crowded photo op
This coconut-fringed cove on the northeast shore gets a fraction of Station 2’s foot traffic, which is the entire point if you’re trying to get an actual conversation in rather than shouting over beach volleyball games. Compare places to stay on Agoda , and remember whatever resort you book needs DOT accreditation to get you through the jetty port at all; that requirement applies to both of you, not just whoever made the booking.
Sunset cocktails, off the sand
Mango rum daiquiris and calamansi mojitos from a terrace behind the buffer line deliver the same sunset the old beach bars used to sell, minus the beach bar and the fine for drinking on the sand.
