Cebu's Real Shows and Events Calendar
Ask a Cebuano what to build a trip around and most won’t mention a venue at all, they’ll ask if you can make it for the third Sunday of January, because one event on this list outranks everything else combined, and the rest of the calendar is really just a supporting cast around it.
Sinulog: worth reshaping a trip around
The Sinulog Grand Parade, honoring the Santo Niño, falls on January 18, 2026, and draws 1 to 2 million devotees and festival-goers into Metro Cebu. After some years at a temporary venue, the parade returned to its historic route through the Cebu City Sports Center and the downtown “carousel route” along Osmeña Boulevard and General Maxilom Avenue, a shortened loop of roughly 4.3km. Hotels across the city and uptown Lahug book out 3 to 6 months ahead at premium rates, and the parade route closes to vehicle traffic for the day, so plan transport around it rather than through it. Cellular networks are sometimes throttled for security during the largest processions, so don’t count on a live signal to coordinate a meeting point mid-parade. Book Cebu City lodging well before December if your dates land anywhere near mid-January, and check the Sinulog Foundation’s own schedule for the solemn novena masses, the dawn fluvial procession of outrigger boats along the Mactan Channel, and the foot procession that run in the days leading up to the parade itself.
Sugbo Mercado, most nights of the week
At Skyrise 5 in Cebu IT Park, over 50 open-air food stalls run Tuesday through Sunday, 4pm to midnight, serving grilled skewers, the five-spice roll ngohiong, palm-steamed puso rice, and mango float desserts, with communal picnic tables and live acoustic sets most evenings. It’s less an event than a nightly fixture, worth building any Cebu City evening around regardless of what else is or isn’t on the calendar that particular date.
The Stellar, a free fountain show
At Il Corso Filinvest Malls on the South Road Properties waterfront, a multi-million-peso choreographed water, light and laser fountain, synced to a rotating mix of classical, pop and Broadway scores, runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 6pm, 6:30pm, 7pm and 7:30pm, free to watch from the Central Piazza amphitheater.
Kasadya Night at Shangri-La Mactan
Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 9pm, the Buko Bar at Shangri-La Mactan runs a Filipino dinner buffet paired with live folk dance performances drawn from across the archipelago, the bamboo-clapping Tinikling, the Spanish-rooted Carinosa, and the candle-balancing Pandanggo sa Ilaw. Bisrock and indie live music
Cebu is the birthplace of Bisrock, Visayan rock, and a prolific source of Filipino musical talent more broadly. Evening gigs run at venues like Draft Punk and Crossroads in Banilad, Handuraw Pizza for acoustic singer-songwriter sets, and rooftop cocktail lounges around Lahug most nights of the week, no ticket required for most of them.
The verdict
Only Sinulog is worth rearranging a trip’s dates for; everything else here, Sugbo Mercado aside, is a pleasant evening if the calendar happens to cooperate, not a reason on its own to change already-booked flights. If Sinulog dates do line up, book lodging and confirm street-closure routes well before you land, since navigating the carousel route on the day itself with a rolling suitcase and no cell signal is not a workable plan.
