A day-trip list that quotes one travel time for the whole island is guessing, because Bali is a province spread across one large island with at least four genuinely different tourist bases. Every trip below names the hub it’s measured from, and one of them, done as a single day, is a genuinely poor use of your time.
Sidemen Valley and Jatiluwih, the quieter circuit

Amed and Tulamben: the honesty test
Realistic door-to-door driving from Seminyak or Canggu runs 3-3.5 hours each way, not the roughly 90 minutes a straight-line distance suggests. A same-day round trip for snorkeling means six-plus hours of driving for a few hours in the water, a genuinely poor trade for a single day; from Ubud the drive is meaningfully shorter.
