Day 1: Arrival and walled-city orientation

Day 4: La Boquilla

Day 5: Bocagrande and a chiva party bus
Mornings here are for pharmacies, a supermarket run, and boardwalk shopping, not a beach day. In the evening, book a chiva party bus seat , about 50,000 COP for a shared 2 to 3 hour tour.
Day 6: San Basilio de Palenque
About 90 minutes each way, this UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage-recognized settlement is the deeper day trip, the direct source of the palenquera tradition seen daily in the walled city. A guided day trip runs roughly 230,000 to 300,000 COP depending on group size.
Day 7: Flex beach day and departure
Use the last full day for whichever earlier day earned a repeat: a second Rosario Islands trip to a different island stop, or a slower morning on Bocagrande’s boardwalk if six days of activity has caught up with you. If your dates fall in December or January, treat the officially flagged rough-seas warning for small boats on the islands route as a real reason to pick the slower option instead. Transfer to CTG with time to spare; weekday traffic to the airport is usually light, but a chiva-heavy Friday night before an early flight is a genuinely bad combination.

Is a second Rosario Islands day better than a rest day?
Depends on how the first six days went. If the heat and the schedule have worn you down, a slow Bocagrande morning does more for you than another 8am boat departure. If the islands were the highlight of the trip, a second day to a different stop, without paying the dock tax twice on the same operator’s return-visitor rate, is the better use of day seven.
