Sibiu Museum Visits, Concerts and Festivals
Museum visits, concerts and festivals in Sibiu
Sibiu’s attractions are mostly structured visits: museum branches with separate tickets, a large open-air museum, concert halls and a few big festivals. This page covers what each one costs, when it opens and what to book ahead.
Brukenthal National Museum
The Brukenthal museum has six branches and no single ticket for all of them. The 2026 adult prices, with pensioner and student prices after, are:
- Brukenthal Palace on Piața Mare, 50 RON (25 and 12.50), for European and Romanian art.
- Casa Altemberger, the History Museum on Strada Mitropoliei, 36 RON (18 and 9).
- Natural History Museum on Strada Cetății, 20 RON (10 and 5), with a few dinosaur models in the garden.
- Pharmacy History Museum on Piața Mică, 16 RON (8 and 4).
- Contemporary Art, 15 RON (7.50 and 3.75).
- Hunting Museum, closed indefinitely and open only for groups of 10 or more booked 24 hours ahead.
A ticket valid for 48 hours at all branches costs 120 RON adult, 60 RON pensioner and 30 RON student, which only beats single tickets if you plan to see four or more branches. On the winter schedule from 28 October 2026, the Palace, Altemberger, Natural History and Pharmacy branches open Wednesday to Sunday 09:00 to 17:00 and close Monday and Tuesday. The ticket desk closes shortly before closing time. Contemporary Art opens Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00. Summer hours may differ, so check the museum tariff page before you go. Guided visits can be requested from the museum.
ASTRA guided visits
Entry to the ASTRA open-air museum is 50 RON adult, 20 RON pensioner and 10 RON pupil or student. A guide costs 150 RON per hour in Romanian and 250 RON per hour in a foreign language, with the entry ticket extra. A nine-seat electric vehicle costs 500 RON per hour, also plus entry. The full list is on the ASTRA tickets page . The park opens 08:00 to 20:00 from May to September and 09:00 to 17:00 from October to April.
Evangelical Cathedral tower
The tower of the Evangelical Cathedral on Piața Huet is about 73 m high and is the climb that gives you the panorama over the roofs. The climb is steep and narrow. A small fee covers the church and tower, usually somewhere between 5 and 15 RON, and the church closes to visitors during weddings and baptisms. The Council Tower on Piața Mare is closed for restoration, with works expected to last to the end of 2027, so the cathedral is the tower to plan for.
Concerts and theatre
The Sibiu State Philharmonic plays at Thalia Hall, and tickets are sold through filarmonicasibiu.ro. Weekdays and prices vary, so check the season programme. The Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS) runs for ten days each June. The 34th edition is 18 to 27 June 2027, and tickets are booked through the festival site .
Christmas Market
The Sibiu Christmas Market in Piața Mare runs 13 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. Entry is free, and it opens 11:00 to 22:00 Monday to Friday and 10:00 to 22:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Some attractions inside charge a fee. The market site has the current programme. Keep an eye on your pockets in the crowds.
Jewish heritage
The Great Synagogue on Strada Constituției, built in 1898 and 1899, is a listed monument. Visits are by request through the community office, so ask there rather than turning up expecting a timetable. Visit it quietly, as a place of living heritage.
