Bucharest Attraction Tours by Opening Day
Bucharest Attraction Tours, Matched to the Calendar
Bucharest’s headline attractions keep very different hours, and one wrong weekday can cost you the ticket you planned around. The sensible approach is to work backwards from opening days. Three of the capital’s best guided visits (the Palace of the Parliament, Casa Ceaușescu and the Antipa museum) each have their own booking habit, and the national art museum sits dark twice a week.
Open every day: the Palace of the Parliament
The Palace of the Parliament runs guided tours daily from 09:00 to 17:00, which makes it the safe anchor for a Monday. Individuals phone +40 733 558 102 or 103 on a weekday between 09:00 and 16:00 at least one day ahead, and groups email. Take a physical passport or national ID card, never a copy or a driving licence, and be at the entrance about 30 minutes early. Tour times and booking rules are on the official visitor page .
Tuesday to Sunday: Casa Ceaușescu
The former family residence on Bulevardul Primăverii is visited on a 45-minute guided tour in Romanian or English, in groups of up to 25. The standard ticket is 85 lei, and 70 lei for pupils, students and pensioners. Adding the 25-minute documentary brings it to 115 lei, and the documentary alone is 50 lei. Doors are open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00, with Mondays and public holidays closed. Photography is banned, pushchairs are refused and the house is not wheelchair accessible. Reserve through casaceausescu.ro .
Wednesday to Sunday: the national art museum
The National Museum of Art of Romania occupies the former Royal Palace on Calea Victoriei. It is open Wednesday to Friday 10:00 to 18:00 and Saturday and Sunday 11:00 to 19:00, with the last entry an hour before closing. A combined ticket costs about 32 lei, and entry is free on the first Wednesday of the month. Some rooms rotate in and out of public use, so check mnar.arts.ro before you set your heart on the throne room.
Natural history for a wet afternoon
The Grigore Antipa museum on Kiseleff, founded in 1834, holds a towering fossil Deinotherium skeleton and dioramas of Romanian and African habitats. Adults pay 32 lei, pensioners 16 and pupils and students 8. Buy online at antipa.bilet.ro, linked from antipa.ro . Guided visits are priced per group of up to 20, Romanian-language 200 lei and English 400 lei, on Tuesday to Friday only and booked a week or more ahead.
Using a reseller
When a fixed date matters, an agency can hold the slot for you. You pay more than the box office, but you get instant confirmation. Compare Bucharest guided tours by cancellation terms, and make sure the listing names the actual attraction rather than a general city drive-by.
A weekly plan
Monday: Parliament. Tuesday: Casa Ceaușescu in the morning, Antipa after lunch. Wednesday: the art museum. For ideas beyond the city limits, the day trips page covers the Carpathian castles. Tip: reserve Casa Ceaușescu first, because tours are guided groups of up to 25 that need a booking or an online ticket.
