Romantic Atlanta: Gardens, Dinner, Skyline
Atlanta suits a romantic weekend built around gardens, one good dinner and an evening out. The ideas below cover gardens, dining, theater and evening walks, and prices are in US dollars. Book dinner ahead and expect warm, humid weather from June to August.
Atlanta Botanical Garden
The garden is the most natural date setting in the city. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Mondays. The Kendeda Canopy Walk, a suspension bridge about 600 feet long and 40 feet above Storza Woods, gives a quiet view over the treetops. From November 14 to January 10, Garden Lights, Holiday Nights fills the grounds with illuminated displays after dark. Admission details are on the garden’s visit page .
Dinner
Bacchanalia, in the Westside Provisions district, serves a multi-course tasting menu and kept its Michelin star in the 2026 guide to the American South. The Optimist, in West Midtown, is a seafood restaurant in a converted mid-century building. Canoe, in Vinings, sits beside the Chattahoochee River with landscaped gardens. Reserve each of them well ahead, and confirm the menu format and prices with the restaurant.
An evening at the Fox Theatre
The 1929 Fox Theatre on Peachtree Street is one of the city’s great buildings, and seeing a show there is a classic night out. Check its calendar for concerts, Broadway tours and films, and read the theater’s tour page if you would rather see the building by day.
Walks and views
The BeltLine Eastside Trail runs about 2.4 miles from near Piedmont Park to the Krog Street Tunnel, passing murals, Historic Fourth Ward Park and Ponce City Market. Go in the late afternoon, when the heat eases, and finish with a drink or dinner at Krog Street Market. More trail details are on the BeltLine’s visit page . For a city view, SkyView Atlanta is a Ferris wheel of about 20 stories beside Centennial Olympic Park, with enclosed gondolas. Hours and prices change, so check the operator’s page before you go.
Art by day
The High Museum of Art in Midtown is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon, and it is closed on Mondays. Its buildings were designed by Richard Meier and Renzo Piano, and last tickets are sold one hour before closing. See the museum’s visit page .
Practical tips
MARTA rail connects the airport, downtown and Midtown for $2.50 a trip. For nights out in Vinings or Westside, a rideshare is easier. Do not leave bags or gifts visible in a parked car. For a hotel stay near Midtown or downtown, search Atlanta hotels on Booking.com .
