Multi-Day Trips from Antigua

Antigua is about 281 square kilometres, and no organised multi-day touring circuits cross the islands. Longer trips here are built from a base and a set of day outings, or from an overnight on a neighbouring island. The ideas below are the realistic ones. Prices are in US dollars where operators quote that way, and the Eastern Caribbean dollar (EC$) is pegged at US$1 to EC$2.70.

Antigua plus a night on Barbuda

Sea Bridge Ferries crosses to Barbuda in about 90 minutes each way, with one-way adult fares from about US$65, and its schedule notes overnight stays on the Wednesday and Thursday sailings. Lodging on Barbuda is limited, and some luxury resorts there are still being rebuilt after Hurricane Irma in 2017, so book the ferry or a flight and a bed well ahead. Sailings are cancelled in rough weather. A flight from V.C. Bird airport takes about 20 minutes. Barbuda has communal land and few facilities, so carry cash, water and sun protection.

An English Harbour base, 2 to 3 days

English Harbour suits a short stay without a car. In three days you can fit in Nelson’s Dockyard and its museum, Fort Berkeley, the Lookout Trail up toward Shirley Heights, the Sunday party at Shirley Heights and a look at the yachts in Falmouth Harbour. The adult heritage pass for the national park is about US$15 (EC$40).

Regatta weeks

The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta runs 14 to 19 April 2027, based at Nelson’s Dockyard. Antigua Sailing Week follows from 21 to 25 April 2027 in a new, shorter point-to-point format. Harbours are busy and rooms are tight in both weeks, so book early.

North Sound loop

Over a day or two you can combine Great Bird Island, Stingray City and Laviscount Island, all reached by boat from the north-east coast. Laviscount Island has Aldabra tortoises.

Carnival

Carnival is held from late July to early August. In 2026 it ran from 25 July to 4 August, with J’ouvert and Monday Mas on 3 August and Last Lap on 4 August. The festival falls within hurricane season, which runs to 30 November.

Wallings hiking days

Wallings Nature Reserve offers ranger-led treks that suit a hiking-focused trip. The Rendezvous Bay hike is 14 miles and about 5 hours, at US$50 for adults and US$30 for children, and Rendezvous to Falmouth is 16 miles and about 5 hours, at US$60 and US$40. Rendezvous Bay has no road, water or shops, so it can also be reached by boat.
