Krabi Attraction Tours: Parks, Caves, Pools
Most Krabi attraction tours bundle a transfer and a guide, but the entrance fee is paid separately at the gate, and that is where visitors get caught out. Here is what each major stop costs, what you do there and which ones are worth a guided day.
The inland pools: Emerald Pool and Hot Springs
Emerald Pool, known in Thai as Sa Morakot, lies in Khao Phra-Bang Khram Wildlife Sanctuary in Khlong Thom district. Foreign adults pay ฿400 and children ฿200, in cash, for entry between 08:30 and 17:00. The water is a clear green, and a forest walk leads to it. The neighbouring Hot Springs Waterfall, Namtok Ron Khlong Thom, charges ฿200 for adults and ฿100 for children, also in cash. A warm stream tumbles over terraces, and the hottest water is far too hot for small children. Tours usually combine the two on a single inland day, and you can search inland Krabi tours on GetYourGuide to compare itineraries.
Khao Phanom Bencha: the waterfall hike
The province’s highest forest reserve is the cheapest big attraction around. Entry to Khao Phanom Bencha National Park is ฿100 for adults and ฿50 for children. The draw is Huai To waterfall, which falls in several tiers over granite ledges, with plunge pools for a cool swim among the orchids. Wear shoes with grip, because the rock is slick after rain.
Hong Islands: the lagoon tour
The Hong archipelago sits in Than Bok Khorani National Park, and the tour is sold as a full day by speedboat. The highlight is the enclosed lagoon on Koh Hong, entered through a narrow gap in the cliffs, and a viewpoint stairway of roughly 400 steps gives a wide look over the limestone islets. A national park fee is payable on top of the boat price. Operator listings show about ฿1,400 to ฿2,000 per person with lunch and snorkel gear, though prices move with the season.
Diamond Cave in Railay
Diamond Cave, Tham Phra Nang Nai, is a lit boardwalk through a large cavern of calcite formations and roosting bats. Entry is about ฿100 for adults and ฿50 for children. It makes a good rainy-hour stop when the boats are held back by weather.
Elephants, ethically
If you want to see elephants, choose a sanctuary built on observation: feeding fruit, watching them forage and mud bathe, and no riding or hooks. Ask any operator what happens to the animals when no visitors are present, and walk away if rides are offered.
Seasons and safety
Monsoon runs May to October, and boat-based tours then cancel without much notice, so book refundable options and keep the inland pools as a fallback. Life jackets should be worn on every longtail and speedboat. See the Krabi sightseeing page for sights you can reach without a tour.
Tip: carry small notes in baht, because the park gates take cash only and change can be short.
