The Opera House’s guided tour, and how it differs from a show ticket
The standard hour-long tour, headset-guided in English and six other languages, takes in the Concert Hall and Joan Sutherland Theatre depending on the day’s schedule. Adult admission is $48, child (5-15) $28, concession $38, family of four $124, with a $175 backstage version and a $73 add-on for an Opera Bar dinner package on top of the standard tour. A ticket to an actual performance is a completely separate purchase, priced by whichever company is on stage rather than by the venue, from budget seats to $300-plus for premium opera or ballet. Hop-on-hop-off bus routes

A commentated harbour cruise
Sailing past the Opera House and under the bridge with commentary, sometimes a meal, aboard a purpose-built cruise boat, a step above the plain Manly ferry, which covers most of the same view for its outer-harbour Opal fare of around $9.20 if the meal isn’t the draw. Taronga Zoo Express
A return ferry, zoo entry and cable car or Sky Safari bundle from Circular Quay, priced from around $67, a genuinely different combined product from buying standalone entry at the gate. Check the current ferry timetable on Taronga’s own site before committing to the rest of the day, since the last return sailing is a hard deadline, not a suggestion.
