Bucharest 4 Day Itinerary (No Day Trips)

Four days in Bucharest, prices in lei not euros, is enough to slow down: the Palace of Parliament, Old Town, the Village Museum, and a full museum day added on, still without touching a castle day trip. This extends the 3 day route with a fourth day built around the National Museum of Art and Obor Market; go to 6 days if you want Therme Bucuresti folded in too.

Day 1: Old Town and Revolution Square

Express Bus 100 from Henri Coanda, roughly 3 RON, 40 to 50 minutes to Piata Unirii; skip the unmarked taxis waiting right outside arrivals, the airport overcharge scam here is well documented, and Bolt or the terminal’s official yellow kiosks are the safer call.

Settle into an Old Town hotel, spend the afternoon at Revolution Square and the Romanian Athenaeum (15 RON cash, walk-in), then Old Town for dinner at Caru’ cu Bere and the evening on Strada Lipscani.

Day 2: The Palace of Parliament and Calea Victoriei

Only works with a booking made ahead (full rules ): phone +40 733 558 102/103, weekdays 9:00 to 16:00, 24+ hours out, original passport in hand. Standard tour roughly 60 RON adult, 30 RON student, 20 RON child, plus a 10 RON basement add-on. Afternoon, walk Calea Victoriei, the “Little Paris” boulevard, patchy but real Belle Epoque architecture surviving between the bombing, the 1977 earthquake, and Ceausescu-era demolitions.

Day 3: The Village Museum and King Michael I Park

Morning at the Village Museum , 40 RON adult, half off Monday and Tuesday, real wooden houses and churches relocated from rural Romania, no booking needed. Afternoon, walk the rest of King Michael I Park, rent a rowboat on the lake if the weather holds.

Day 4: The National Museum of Art and Obor Market

Morning at the National Museum of Art of Romania, inside the former Royal Palace on Revolution Square, 24 RON per gallery or 32 RON combined, free the first Wednesday of the month. Afternoon, head to Obor Market on the east side for mici at half the price of the Old Town beer halls, a full meal with a couple of beers rarely tops 40 RON. Evening, Cismigiu Gardens for a quiet last night walk rather than a third round of Lipscani.

Obor Market beats an Old Town restaurant on price for the same mici, worth the metro ride out on a day you’re not booked elsewhere.
