Six days is our 5-day itinerary (the city core, Preikestolen, the Petroleum Museum, the Lysefjord, Jæren, and Kjerag) with a sixth day for the Flørli 4,444 steps, a different kind of hard from either marquee hike. Want Utstein Abbey added too? Our 7-day itinerary folds that in.

Know before you go
- Pay in NOK, not euros, and expect near-cashless payment by card almost everywhere.
- Flørli is roadless, ferry-only, check the current ferry schedule before you commit the day.
- Check hotel rates in Stavanger on Booking.com : compare a Ryfylke-side stay for the trailhead-heavy middle days.

Day 3: Petroleum Museum and Sverd i fjell
Morning: The Norwegian Petroleum Museum’s oil-capital story.
Afternoon: Sverd i fjell at Hafrsfjord, then Ledaal or Breidablikk.

Afternoon: The Jæren coast and Solastranden beach near Sola.
Evening: An easy dinner, a rest day before Kjerag.
Day 5: Kjerag

Evening: A well-earned dinner back in Stavanger.
Day 6: Flørli’s 4,444 steps
Morning: Ferry to Flørli, the roadless village on the Lysefjord’s south shore, check the schedule before you commit the day.
Afternoon: The 4,444-step wooden staircase, widely described as the world’s longest, climbing to the Ternevatnet reservoir, a strenuous, sustained climb rather than a technical one.
Evening: Ferry back to Stavanger for a final relaxed dinner after a genuinely different kind of hard day.
Which 6-day split actually works?
Two marquee hikes graded honestly plus a third, different kind of climb at Flørli, alongside the city core, the museum, the fjord, and the coast, is genuinely a full week’s worth of Stavanger without cramming two hikes into one day. If six days feels like too much, our 4-day itinerary keeps the core plus Preikestolen only.
